Schwarz, 57, formerly of
Heppner, passed away on
Dec. 28 at his home in Tygh
Valley, OR. Ron was laid
to rest at Valby Lutheran
Cemetery in Valby, OR on
Dec. 31.
He was born in Hep-
pner to Ann Belle (Cole-
man) Schwarz and Len Ray
Schwarz on Sept. 29, 1961,
the first of three boys. Ron
was baptized and confirmed
at Hope Lutheran Church.
Ron attended school
in Heppner, graduating in
1980 from Heppner High
School. Throughout school
he enjoyed playing football
and participating in other
school activities.
After graduating, Ron
moved to Wyoming where
he worked for Utah Power.
He was a timber faller for
over 30 years. Logging
was a big part of his life
and a great passion. He
fell timber throughout the
northwest and Alaska.
Ron was an outdoors-
man who loved the moun-
tains, fishing, hunting and
trapping. He was proud of
the Oregon record black
bear he shot with his muz-
zleloader in the Blue Moun-
tains. He loved animals and
was a very creative and ar-
tistic person that always had
an eye for photography. Ac-
cording to his family, Ron
will always be remembered
as a big hearted, friendly
guy that loved the outdoors.
Ron was preceded in
death by his grandparents,
Leonard and Mary Schwarz
and Ida and Albion Cole-
man; aunts, Joan West and
Jean Crawford and uncle,
Wallace Garrsland.
Ron is survived by
his parents, Ann and Len
Schwarz; brothers, Pat
Schwarz (wife) Darla and
Ted Schwarz (wife) Pau-
line; nieces, Leann and
Paige Schwarz; nephew,
Brandon Johnson; great
niece Olivia and great neph-
ew Isaac.

Catholic men to
hold meeting
The men of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Heppner
and St. William’s Catholic Church of Ione will hold their
First Friday of the month meeting on Friday, Jan. 4 at
the parish office in Heppner. The meeting will start at
6:45 a.m. and will be followed by First Friday Mass at
7:30 a.m.

AWANA starts
again Jan. 6

Christmas vacation, Hep-
pner AWANA Club will
start up again this Sunday,
Jan. 6. AWANA Club is
held every Sunday from 3-5
p.m. at Willow Creek Bap-
tist in Heppner. The theme
for Jan. 6 is Western Night.
The theme for Jan. 13
is Prince/Princess Night.
Parents, grandparents and
guardians are issued a spe-
cial invitation to attend that
night with their princes and
princesses to see what the
buzz is all about. This is
only the second time Hep-
pner AWANA has planned
a special a parent night.

fun quizzes alongside club
