The eighth annual Hep-
pner Mustang Alumni Bas-
ketball tournament was held
in front of a large crowd of
over 100 fans, family and
friends. The annual fund-
raiser for the Heppner boys’
basketball program saw a
record turnout of players
and fans attend the game.
The game is open to former
Mustangs and family mem-
bers. Both the men’s and
women’s games were close
throughout and extremely
entertaining to watch.
In the women’s game,
the more experienced team,
made up of players from
1991-2005 won by the
score of 47-37. It was a
fast paced and sometimes
very physical game that was
closer than the final score
indicates. The intensity
level certainly ramped up
as the game neared the end
and the ladies were playing
their hearts out. Everyone
enjoyed seeing so many
of the former Fillies and
Mustangs play their hardest
and have lots of fun doing
it. Susan Hisler coached
the winning team to their
victory.
The men’s game was a
three point shooting contest
at the start and then turned
into a physical battle that
saw the “oldies” beat the
“young guns” by the score
of 67-62. The game fea-
tured players that graduated
just last year to Stuart Dick
who played for the Mus-
tangs in 1965. The winning
team was led in scoring by
Jeremy Rosenbalm with 26
points. Logan Grieb led the
“young guns” with 17.
