Sincerely, John Edmundson Heppner Ione to hold Baccalaureate The Ione High School Baccalaureate will be held at the Ione Community Church on Tuesday, May 29, begin- ning at 6 p.m. The Reverend Michael Crouch, interim ICC pastor, will officiate. The graduates, parents, students, teachers and members of the community are invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided by the churches in the community. Celebration of life to be held A celebration of life will be held for Dave Zach- ry at the Heppner city park on June 3 from noon to 3 p.m. Hamburgers and hot- dogs will be provided, but guests are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. The couple Kenneth Raymond Smith Kenneth Raymond Smith, a former Heppner resident, died at the age of 90 on Friday, May 11 at Alvarado, TX, where he was living. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26 at the Heppner Masonic Cem- etery. A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. at the Heppner Elks Lodge. Smith was born on Apr. 6, 1928 at Dawson, NM, the son of Mike and Ruth Smith. On Apr. 25, 1957 he married Nedra “Rosie” Smith. The couple had four children; Jamie, Mike, Mar- ty and Rick. They moved to Heppner in 1962 when he took a job at Kinzua Sawmill, where he worked until his retirement. Rosie preceded him in death in October of 2002. Kenneth married his high school sweetheart Mary Louise Scott on June 9, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Jamie Wise and her husband Casey of Kingsley, MI, Mike Smith and his wife Valerie of La Grande, OR, Marty Smith and Rick Smith both of Heppner; sisters, Becky Smith, and Mozell Allen and her husband David, 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
