Forest Service Road
24 improvements
underway
Construction work on
a portion of Forest Ser-
vice Road (FSR) 24 began
last week. The construc-
tion project is located 15
miles northeast of Spray
and about one mile south
of Bull Prairie Lake on the
Heppner Ranger District.
The segment of road under
construction is between
Highway 207 and the junc-
tion of FSR 2407, which
provides access to Tama-
rack Lookout.
Iron Triangle, LLC is
replacing old, undersized
ditch relief culverts and will
soon begin preparing the
road for resurfacing with
new crushed aggregate. De-
lays up to one hour can be
expected while culverts are
being replaced. That work
is expected to be finished
within one week.
Following the culvert
replacements, construc-
tion equipment, along with
gravel trucks, will be op-
erating along the road for
several weeks. The con-
tractor intends to complete
the project prior to Memo-
rial Day weekend, but the
contract is effective until
June 8, if additional time
is needed.
Gravel trucks will be
hauling from a pit off FSR
23, approximately one mile
east of its junction with FSR
24. Drivers are asked to
drive safely and defensively
while traveling in the area.
For additional informa-
tion on this project, contact
the Heppner Ranger Dis-
trict at 541-676-9187.
Community lunch menu
All Saints, Hope and Valby volunteers will serve
lunch on Wednesday, May 9 at St. Patrick’s Senior
Center. Lunch will be scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage,
hash browns, mermaid salad, citrus salad, biscuits and
cinnamon rolls for dessert.
Milk is served at each meal. Suggested donation is
$3.50 per meal. Menu is subject to change.
