Track team gets three consecutive wins
The Heppner men’s and
women’s track teams per-
formed well in the past
week of competition. The
men’s team came home
with two more team wins,
in Weston and in Stanfield,
for a total of three consecu-
tive team wins.
At the Weston-McEwen
Small Schools Invite, Derek
Howard started the day with
two wins in shot put (48’3”)
and discus (119’3”). Alex
Lindsay added another win
in the triple jump, jumping
a season record of 40’ 8.5”.
Makayla Silvia added a
third place finish for the
women in the long jump,
jumping 14’6”. The team
again showed its depth with
points scored in each event.
Running events started
with a strong showing by
the 4x100 team of Blake
Wolters, Carson Bros-
nan and Jackson Lehman.
Trevor Antonucci led the
1500m, followed by Jordan
Sweeney in third. Hunter
Nichols ran a personal best
time of 52.8 seconds in the
400m, finishing second.
Alison Cecil ran 14.6 for
a sixth place in the 100m,
while Jayden Wilson ran a
personal best time of 12.69
seconds for a second place
finish. Mason Lehman ran
26.09 in the 200m finishing
second for the men, while
Alison Cecil ran 30.56 for
fifth place for the women.
Alex Lindsay ran a season
record time of 46.78 sec-
onds in the 300m hurdles,
finishing third. The 3000m
race showed Heppner in
the top three places, with
Hunter Nichols leading in
a time of 9:48.22, followed
by Trevor Antonucci and
Evan Kollman.

times and long distances
and running and throwing
events. Overall, Heppner
earned eight first place
finishes, two second place
finishes, six third place fin-
ishes, and numerous point
earning finishes to show
the talent and depth of the
team. Derek Howard won
the shot put event, Alex
Lindsay jumped a personal
record of 19’2” in the long
jump and won the triple
jump as well. Hunter Nich-
ols won both the 1500m
and the 800m runs. In the
800m, Nichols ran 2:00.6, a
personal record that is only
.9 seconds away from the
school record set in 1966.
Trevor Antonucci came in
third in the 1500m, and
won the 3000m run. Mason
Lehman won the 400m dash
with a personal record of
55.46 seconds. Among the
women, Madelyn Nichols
finished second in the 400,
and Hannah Palmer and
Tiffany Hollis both ran per-
sonal best times in the 800.
