It’s all about Christmas
in Heppner as the com-
munity gets ready for Hep-
pner’s Christmas festivities
this year. The annual Parade
of Lights will be on Thurs-
day, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. and
is being organized by the
city of Heppner. Contact
city hall at 541-676-9618
for an entry form and plan
to be lined up at the city
park by 5 p.m.
Local merchants cus-
tomer appreciation day with
extended evening hours for
early Christmas shopping
will also be held on Dec. 7.
The day will be filled with
refreshments being served
by local businesses all day
and into the evening and
ending with a spaghetti din-
ner and toy drive at the Elks
Lodge immediately follow-
ing the parade of lights.
Monday, Nov. 20, was
the day to start collect-
ing rewards cards when
making purchases locally.
When shopping at local par-
ticipating merchants from
Monday, Nov. 20, through
Thursday, Dec. 14, you
will receive rewards cards
in the amount of purchase
(payment on account is not
eligible) in $10, $20 and
$50 denominations.
Residents are encour-
aged to collect their rewards
cards and bring them to
this year’s Celebrate Hep-
pner Christmas commu-
nity event, which will be
held at the Morrow County
Fairgrounds on Thursday
evening, Dec. 14, starting
at 6 p.m. There, rewards
cards can be entered for an
opportunity to win some
great prizes donated by area
merchants.
Celebrate Heppner
Christmas will begin with
a spaghetti dinner prepared
and served by the track and
cross country team parents,
and will include pictures
with Santa and drawing of
the rewards cards. Dinner
will be limited to the first
200 people and you will
receive a $10 reward card
for each meal purchased.
Rumor has it that Scrooge
is also planning on stopping
by to spend the evening.
Announcement of the raffle
and penny board winners
will wrap up the evening.

those rewards cards when
you buy local from Nov.
