Booster Club to host Morrow County Fair 4-H results released

Sr Booster Club has an-
nounced the upcoming date
for its annual steak feed
and auction fund raiser to
be Oct. 14. The Booster
Club officers and members
said they have been busy
collecting donations for the
steak feed and auction and
many of the items are start-
ing to come in. Next Era
Energy Resources, LLC,
the new owner of the local
Wheatridge Wind Energy
project, has agreed to spon-
sor the steak feed dinner
portion of the event this
year. When contacted the
company representative
said, “This sounds like a
great event and we would
love to continue the Wheat-
ridge support of the dinner.”
“We are really looking
forward to another great
year for this event as it is
the sole fundraising event
that we put on each year
and allows your Heppner
Jr/Sr Booster Club to
donate to literally every
class, formal school rec-
ognized organization/club
and athletic team within
the school. The past three
years the board has been
able to literally assist each
and every student in some
way,” a member shared.
“With NextEra sponsoring
the steak feed portion of
our event it increases even
further our ability to focus
all of the funds raised by
the generosity of the com-
munity and the businesses
and people located here, to
the students.”
This week the Booster
Club announced that VIP
tables will be on sale Thurs-
day, Oct. 5, starting at 4
p.m. “The VIP experience
for the annual auction has
been something special
we added about four years
ago with a lot of additional
interest coming each year,”
commented Carri Grieb,
current club secretary. VIP
tables are available to any-
one who wishes to purchase
them, but are limited due to
space. The auction goers are
treated to round table seat-
ing close to auction activity,
pampered with two bottles
of wine at their table and
tableside dinner service.
A reserved table for six is
$400 and can be purchased
by contacting Melissa Lind-
say at 541-561-0234 or
reaching out to any Booster
Club officer. Tickets for this
special service VIP experi-
ence are first come, first
serve as space is limited.
The City of Heppner
recently received a Trans-
portation and Growth Man-
agement Grant totaling
$132,450 for updating the
city’s 2003 Transportation
System Plan (TSP). The
city is required by the State
of Oregon to have an up-
dated TSP, so this grant is
important and timely, said
city officials.
“It is vital to have pub-
lic input to assure the new
TSP works for all interests
of the Heppner community.
Citizens and stakeholders
will be able to participate
in planning and developing
priorities for the city’s TSP
by attending public meet-
ings and public hearings
and by direct communica-
tion with council members
and staff. This will enhance
a future vision of the city to
reflect community values
and preserve Heppner’s
future as a great place to do
business, raise a family, and
visit,” said a spokesperson.
A kick off meeting
is scheduled on Monday,
Oct. 16, at 12 noon in the
city hall conference room.
City staff, members of the
city’s consulting team, and
ODOT will be conducting
an overview of the project.
At 3 p.m. the city will host
a walking tour of downtown
and the community to as-
sess transportation system
needs and identify opportu-
nities to support community
development and a vision
for the future.

Heppner receives
grant for TSP
Electric Co-Op to
Perform Tree Trimming
Operations in Area
Columbia Basin Electric Co-Op, and
their subcontractors, Trees Inc., will be
conducting their biennial
tree trimming operation
throughout the service
territory during the
next few months.
Trees Inc. is scheduled
to begin trimming on
September 25th and are
expected to be in the
Columbia Basin Electric
service territory for
approximately three
months.
