For Obituaries: Obituaries are published in the Heppner GT at no charge and are edited to
meet news guidelines. Families wishing to include information not included in the guidelines
or who wish to have the obituary written in a certain way must purchase advertising space
for the obituary.
For Letters to the Editor: Letters to the Editor MUST be signed by the author. The Heppner
GT will not publish unsigned letters. All letters MUST include the author’s address and phone
number for use by the GT office. The GT reserves the right to edit letters. The GT is not
responsible for accuracy of statements made in letters. Any letters expressing thanks will
be placed in the classifieds under “Card of Thanks” at a cost of $10.

Over the Tee Cup
Rain and clouds greeted the 15 women who turned out
for ladies’ play day at Willow Creek Country Club May
2. Nancy Propheter took low gross of the field, while low
net was a three-way tie among Pat Dougherty, Virginia
Grant and Shirley Martin. Loa Heideman had the least
putts of the field.
For flight A, Nancy Propheter had the long drive and
Virginia Grant KP.
For flight B, Judy Harris had low gross, and Karen
Haguewood and Betty Burns tied for low net. Lorrene
Montgomery had the long drive and Karen Haguewood
KP.
For Flight C, Bev Steagall and Sue Edson has low
gross, Kathy Morter low net, Lorrene Montgomery least
putts, Shirley Martin the long drive and Josie Kindsfather
KP.
Jeanni Creswick also had a chip-in on #18.
WCCC Sunday
men’s play results
Twenty-nine participated in the three-par challenge
at Willow Creek Country Club on Sunday, May 7. The
modified cross-country event consisted of 18 holes that
all played as par three. Results are as follows:
Gross—1 st , Scott Burright, 61; 2 nd , Barry Munkers,
62; 3 rd , Ron Bowman, 63; 4 th , Charlie Ferguson, 64.
Net—1 st , David Allstott, 51; 2 nd , John Edmundson,
52; 3 rd /4 th (tie), Tim Wright-Roger Ehrmantraut, 53.
There will be no men’s play on Sunday, May 14. The
next event will be the Ryder Cup on May 21. This is a
team event and a sign-up sheet is in the clubhouse. Teams
will be picked on Tuesday, May 16. The men’s club board
sponsors this event.
Temple to have
heart surgery, vet
clinic closed for now
Dick Temple, DVM has announced that he will be
unavailable at his veterinarian clinic in Lexington for the
foreseeable future.
Temple’s wife, Karen, told the Gazette that the local
veterinarian was admitted to a hospital in Coos Bay, OR
over the weekend and will need open heart surgery to
replace his mitral valve.
While the surgery, planned for Oregon Health & Sci-
ence University, has not been scheduled yet, the Temples
say Dr. Temple is looking at several months out of the
office pre- and post-surgery. They are in the process of
cancelling upcoming appointments and making arrange-
ments with clients.

resident, died Sunday, April
23, 2017 at Pioneer Memo-
rial Hospital. A celebration
of life will be held May 20
at 11 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s
Senior Center in Heppner.
He was born September

Rita was born October
24, 1923 in Hardman, OR
to Roy and Eva (McDon-
ald) Robinson. She resided
in Heppner; Lostine, OR;
Prairie City, OR and La
Grande, OR. She attended
schools in Lonerock, OR
and Heppner. She married
Clayton Wright. That mar-
riage ended and she later
married Leonard Caverhill.
Rita was a rancher, de-
voted mother and wife. She
enjoyed square dancing and
riding horses.

ment Narcotics Task Force
(BENT) and most currently
as a detective within the
Morrow County Sheriff’s
Office (MCSO) criminal
division. Snyder will be
supervising criminal in-

officer and the BENT de-

Ivy Zimmerman, Civ-
il Sergeant. Zimmerman
has been with the Morrow
County Sheriff’s Office for
her whole law enforcement
career. She started working
as a dispatcher in 2007.
Zimmerman also worked
as an assistant civil deputy
and was later promoted to
chief civil deputy. She will
supervise the civil unit and
patrol deputies while they
are performing civil duties.

Willow Creek Baptist volunteers will serve lunch on
Wednesday, May 17, at St. Patrick’s Senior Center.
Lunch will include pork chops, mashed potatoes and
gravy, mixed vegetables, apple sauce, hot rolls and apple
cobbler.
Milk is served at each meal. Suggested donation is
$3.50 per meal. Menu is subject to change.
