Medical marijuana saves lives Hi, I’m Stephanie Howard, and I’m writing this to tell you why marijuana should not be banned or dispensaries shut down. I live in a small town, part of Morrow County, lived here my whole life, with seizures my whole life—over 250-plus seizures a year until I got on medical marijuana in 2015. My pills have been lowered, my VNS shut off, and only three seizures since the end of the year 2015. If they take the recreational marijuana away here in Oregon, the medical will be destroyed with it. Please, the medical marijuana helps with so many diseases, curing cancer, epilepsy, etc. with no side effects. It helps me and many more who are on medical marijuana for health problems. If they change the laws again or turn it into a prescription, it will not work the same, and it would hurt or kill those who are trying to be healed. People don’t understand that if you take away recreational the medical will be taken away too. Again, I live in a small town where I have to drive out of town because Morrow County won’t wake up and help by putting in a dispensary. I have to urgently run and try to find my CBD oil to stop my seizures. It’s the only thing that works. When I run out—or in this case can’t find any anymore because of what the government and state is doing—it has caused my epilepsy to increase a little. Don’t have us epilepsy patients go back to hav- ing seizures. I have a friend in Portland who even has it worse than me. Wake up, Oregon. Medical marijuana saves lives. It did mine. I don’t feel fear that I am going to hit my head any more or feel like I have to stay in my home because of the fear of falling outside, or be scared of drowning in my bathtub. I vote to keep marijuana legal. Don’t let us people with cancer, MS, epilepsy, etc. be in fear. Fight for us and with us so we can live a normal life. Please, United States of America, us medical patients want to live a normal life, and the only way we can do that is if dispensaries stay open so we can have the CBD and RSO oil we need to get better and live a normal life. This is the truth. I speak the truth. I’ll keep fighting to keep marijuana legal for me and for others like me.
