Heppner Elementary
School students competed
in a school Geography Bee
on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Fourth, fifth and sixth
grade students were given
a qualifying test and the
top 14 students were in-
vited to participate in a
competition in front of the
school. Students were asked
a variety of questions about
world and local geography.
Seven rounds of questions
eventually narrowed down
the competitors to a group
of eight for the final round.
Eventually the top two
students left were fifth grad-

Sealed bids will be received no later than 4:00 p.m., February 21, 2017. Morrow County Public Works
Office in Lexington. Bids will be opened at 9:00 a.m. at Morrow County Court in Boardman, OR. On
February 22, 2017.
Successful bidder will be required to take possession and remove vehicle within 30 days of being notified their bid has
been accepted Morrow County makes no warranties as to vehicles condition.
Payment in full must be completed with certified check, cashier’s check, or cash. Payment in full is required before
buyer will receive vehicle title from Morrow County. Buyer is required to register the vehicle in the buyer's name, and
present that registration to Morrow County prior to the vehicle being released to the buyer. Failure to perform these
steps within 30 days of being notified that bid has been accepted will nullify the winning bid, and Morrow County may
offer vehicle to next highest bidder or choose to relist the vehicle at auction.

The Neighborhood Center is having its $15 bag sale
today, Feb. 1. The bag sale includes all clothing items and
shoes. All other store merchandise is 50 percent off this
day only. Bag sale proceeds go to fund the food pantry
to help local families.
The Neighborhood Center is located at 441 N. Main
Street in Heppner and is open Monday through Friday
from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The food pantry closes daily
at 4 p.m. Center staff say donations of brown bags and
plastic bags are always appreciated.

benefit dinner for Asher
Schonbachler will be held
Saturday, Feb. 11, at 6
p.m. at the Heppner Elk’s
Lodge.
Asher has been diag-
nosed with leukodystro-
phy, also known as Vanish-
ing White Matter Disease.
The family has asked that
the majority of proceeds go
to research to find a cure.
The evening will in-
clude dinner, music, and
silent and live auctions.
