Ione Basketball Bonanza this
weekend
The Ione basketball
season will begin with a
bang with the Ione Basket-
ball Bonanza this Friday
and Saturday, Dec. 2-3, at
Ione High School.
Girls’ varsity will tip
off the action Friday at 3
p.m. with a game between
Irrigon and Enterprise, fol-
lowed by a boys’ varsity
game between Irrigon and
Enterprise. Game three will
be a girls’ varsity match
between Ione and Weston-
McEwen at 6 p.m., with the
boys playing at 7:30 p.m.
The girls’ varsity con-
solation game will take
place Saturday at 1 p.m.
with the championship
game at 4 p.m. The boys’
consolation game will be
Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with
the championship game at
5:30 p.m.
In the junior varsity
brackets, Ione girls face
Weston-McEwen Friday
at 1 p.m., followed by the
Ione and WM JV boys’
teams Friday at 2:30 p.m.
The Irrigon and Enterprise
JV girls play Friday at 4
p.m., followed by the boys
at 5:30.
The JV girls’ consola-
tion game will take place
Saturday at 10 a.m., with
the girls’ championship at
1 p.m. The JV boys con-
solation game will be at
11:30 a.m. Saturday with
the championship at 2:30
p.m.

Super Stars Kids Club holds
first meeting, dinner
Hardman Community Center
plans open house
The public is invited to
attend an open house and
potluck at Hardman Commu-
nity Center this Sunday, Dec.
4, from 1 to 4 p.m. Guests
are invited to come tour the
facility and help celebrate the
completion of the dining room
remodel.
The main dish will be
provided by Ruggs Ranch and
Snow-McElligott, and coffee
and punch by the community
center. Guests coming for the
meal are asked to bring a side,
salad or dessert. Large groups

sician’s assistant, and then a
physician, since physicians
take longer to recruit.

set-up and training earlier
and the first day of actual
scans planned for Jan. 7.
Houser said that Saturday
has been set as the day to
scan, but he added that he
hoped Saturday won’t re-

talking to a couple who

one existing tub room not
being used, to a new med
room. If it is allowed, the
administrator would con-
tinue to occupy the current
space where the med room
is located, which would
become the administrator’s

Organizers reported a good turnout at the first-ever Super Stars Kids Club after school on
Monday at the Heppner United Methodist Church. The group completed art projects, tried
singing in the round, learned to make Ants on a Log and a shared a spaghetti dinner. The next

The men of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Heppner
and St. William’s Catholic Church of Ione will hold their
first Friday of the month meeting this Friday, Dec. 2, at
the parish office in Heppner. The meeting will start at 6:45
a.m. and will be followed by first Friday Mass at 7:30 a.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 7, at St. Patrick’s Senior Center. Lunch
will include meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, broc-

Fresh.
Those selecting tags
from the tree are asked
to deliver the unwrapped
Christmas presents to the
Neighborhood Center, with
the tag taken from the tree
attached, by Thursday, Dec.
15. The Kids Shopping Day
will be held on Friday, Dec.
16, from noon to 4 p.m. (the
center will be closed for the
event).
The Kids Shopping
Day is a free event for the
children of the families par-
ticipating in the food box
program. Children “shop”
for gifts for their siblings
and a gift for their parent
or guardian, and leave with
wrapped presents to put
under their tree. Any dona-
tions of new toys for kids
and small gifts for teens
and parents or guardians are
greatly appreciated. Dona-
tions of Christmas gift bags
and tissue paper are also
needed for this event.
The $10 bag sale will
be held Wednesday, Dec.
7, from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30
p.m. The bag sale includes
all clothing and shoes. All

Raising a ruckus for
kids this Christmas
The second annual Ruckus Raiser fundraiser will
take place Friday, Dec. 9, beginning at 9 p.m. at Buck-
num’s Tavern. The evening will feature live music by
Cory Peterson, Aaron “Dog Bite” Harris and Jake Roy.
Entrance will be by donations at the door; donations may
be cash or a new, unwrapped toy. Proceeds will go to the
Neighborhood Center.

causes and solutions were
topics of discussion among
board members.

p.m. in the SWCD Conference Room at 430 W Linden
Way, Heppner. Agenda items include public comments,
minutes of the November meeting, financial report, staff
and partner reports, and selection and resolution of the
date for the annual meeting. Meetings of the Morrow
SWCD are open to the public.
