Ione students named to the honor roll were Oskar M. Peterson, sophomore in pre-mechanical engineer- ing, and Mary V. Rietmann, senior in human devel- opment and family sci- ence, both with a straight-A average, and August H. Peterson, sophomore in agricultural sciences, and Makenna M. Ramos, senior in human development and family science, both with a 3.5 or better GPA. From Heppner, Mag- gie K. Collins, senior in agricultural sciences was named to the honor roll with a 3.5 or better GPA. Maria G. Rodriguez of Boardman, sophomore studying nutrition, and Jes- sica Nava of Irrigon, a sophomore in biology, were also named to the honor roll. To be on the honor roll, students must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work. SALEM—The Oregon College Savings Plan is bringing puppeteer Pen- ny Walter to two Mor- row County libraries next month. Walter will share her Penny’s Puppets show at the Oregon Trail Library District’s Heppner branch on July 7 at 10 a.m. and at the Ione Public Library on July 26 at 11 a.m. Penny’s Puppets is an “imaginative show that takes the audience on a magical, musical journey packed full of comedy, laughter and audience par- ticipation, blurring the boundaries between fantasy and reality to create a fun, make-believe world where anything can happen and usually does.” The performance is part of this year’s annual summer reading program, On Your Mark, Get Set, Save! The Oregon College Savings Plan is underwrit- ing a series of free special performances in libraries in communities with a popu- lation of 10,000 or less to engage and motivate young readers, while helping these smaller libraries drive traf- ic and encourage summer reading. At least 68,735 achieved their reading goal and completed the 2015 summer reading program.
