one of hundreds across the
nation, including on the Na-
tional Mall in Washington,
D.C, in New York and Chi-
cago, to call people to act
on behalf of our state’s and
nation’s children through-
out April.
“While the pinwheel
creates a memorable and
compelling visual, it is the
story behind the pinwheel
a sign of hope, of the great
childhoods all children de-
serve because our children
are our future.”
Morrow County re-
ceived 750 pinwheels for
this prevention awareness
project. Pinwheel gardens
were planted at Heppner
High School, Heppner El-
ementary School, Irrigon
school reader board, Riv-
erside High School, Ione
Community School and the
SAGE Center.
Morrow County School
District employees and stu-
dents, Ione School District
employees and students, the
SAGE center and its em-
ployees all volunteered and
donated time to this proj-
ect. The Morrow County
Health Department hopes
to expand the Pinwheels
for Prevention project next
year to include local busi-
nesses and libraries.
For more information
on how to get involved with
the Pinwheels for Preven-
tion project, contact the

Before picking up a shovel, pick
up fue tele phone. Electric, water,
sewer, natural gas, tele phone and
cable television lines often are
buried underground. One wrong
move can cause you and your
neighbors to be cut off from vital
ser vices - or cause death or injury
to you, from an electric shock or an
explosion. At least
two business days
before you plan to
dig, call your state's
one-call center, or
your local utilities.
Affected utility companies will come out and use
color-coded paint to mark the location of under-
ground utilities. Calling ahead not only is com mon
sense. ]n some states, it is the law!
