Busy week leaves Mustang golfers in
good standing
Last week the entire
Heppner Mustang boys’
golf team traveled to the
Portland area to participate
in the Westside Christian
High School Invitational.
The tournament was held
at the prestigious Pump-
kin Ridge Golf Club. The
day before the tournament
the team played a practice
round at Meriwether Golf
Course in Hillsboro. Former
Mustang golfer Joe Pranger
works at Meriwether and
was able to meet with the
team on the practice range.
Joe even took some time out
of his busy schedule to play
a few holes with the current
Mustang golfers.
In the tournament at
Pumpkin Ridge, the Mus-
tangs shot a 402 on the
day to inish in ifth place.
There were a total of eight
teams that participated in
the tournament. Oakridge
won the event by shooting a

Portland Adventist (373),
Westside Christian (390),
Columbia Christian (401),
Heppner (402), Oregon
Episcopal (405), Catlin
Gable (424) and Enterprise

place banner in a scorecard
playoff with Bretsch, who
inished fourth. Also scor-
ing for the team were Reno
Ferguson, who shot a 108,
and Cason Mitchell, who
finished with a 126. The

the Heppner golfers headed
to John Day for the Grant
Union Invitational. The

Amanda Rea shot a great
score of 87 to take the irst
place medalist honors for
the tournament. Caitlyn
Scrivner inished with a 135
on the challenging course.
The Mustang boys’
team inished in third place
at the tournament. Burns

Union (409), Heppner

That was also good enough
for him to be the irst place
medalist at the tournament.

pner golfers were Cason
Mitchell (97), Reno Fergu-
son (108), Logan Burright
(121) and Charles Cason
