Cardinal boys go to district crossovers
The Ione varsity boys’
team traveled to Spray last
Tuesday to take on the
Eagle Loggers. They played
hard to pull out a 41-30 win
against Mitchell/Spray.
Friday night the boys
celebrated senior night dur-
ing their last home game
of the season when they
hosted South Wasco County
in the game of the season.
Ione senior Jason Juarez
had the hot hand of the
night, making three-point-
er after three-pointer. His
teammates held up their
end of the bargain, playing
their hearts out and almost
overcoming the Redsides
to the cheering of a large
hometown crowd. Despite
an outstanding game, the
Cardinals fell short at the
buzzer, ending with a 50-68
loss to South Wasco.
The Cardinals then
traveled to Hood River to
play Horizon Christian in
the last league game of the
season. Their momentum
faltered, and they lost on the
Hawk’s home court 38-59.
The Cardinals sit at
sixth in the Big Sky League
with a league record of
3-11. They go to the district
crossover games in Dufur
Wednesday at 6 p.m. to
determine whether they
advance to the district tour-
nament this weekend.
