to as the “dome” or “golf
ball”—will be hosting a
fundraising concert early
in the month of December.
Live at CLC will be
a two-day event featuring
live music performed by

during the intermission, as
well as a silent auction to
be held in the fellowship
hall throughout each night.
Concert admission is
free with an opportunity to
give during the night. Ten
percent of all proceeds will
be returned to the commu-
nity through a donation to
the Neighborhood Center.
“The funds raised dur-
ing this concert will be
used for the advancement
of our children’s and music
programs,” said newly-
installed Pastor Tony Long-
Drew. “We are so very
thankful and believe in the

butions.”

It’s all about Christmas in
Heppner
In Heppner, it’s all
about Christmas and get-
ting ready for Heppner’s
Christmas festivities.
The annual Rewards
Card program started Mon-
day, and shoppers can now
start collecting the rewards
cards when they make
purchases locally. Anyone
shopping at local participat-
ing merchants from now
through Thursday, Dec. 17,
will receive rewards cards
in the amount of purchase
(payment on account is not
eligible).
Shoppers can collect
the cards and take them
to this year’s Celebrate
Heppner Christmas com-
munity event, which will be
held at the Morrow County
Fairgrounds on Thursday
evening, Dec. 17, starting
at 6 p.m. There, shoppers
can enter rewards cards for
an opportunity to win some
great prizes that have been
donated by merchants. Re-
member to ask for the cards
when buying local.
The Celebrate Heppner
Christmas event will begin
at 6 p.m. with a spaghetti
dinner prepared and served
by Gateway Café, and will
be limited to the irst 100
people; pictures with Santa
and drawing of the rewards
cards, raffle and penny
board winners will wrap
up the evening. There’s
also a rumor that Scrooge
is planning on stopping by
to spend the evening.
So circle these dates
on your calendar: Monday,
Nov. 23, to begin collecting
the rewards cards for shop-
ping local; Thursday, Dec.
3, for the parade of lights
at 5:30 p.m. and merchant
activities all evening; and
Thursday, Dec. 17, for the
Celebrate Heppner Christ-
mas community event.
Christmas light display coming
to SAGE
The lights will be on Dec. 1 with a community
event at SAGE Center
BOARDMAN—An
agriculture-themed Christ-
mas light display will be
open to the public starting
Dec. 1 at the SAGE Center.
A lighting event is set
for Dec. 1 from 6-8 p.m.
at 101 Olson Road, Board-
man, where residents can
drink hot chocolate and
have cookies while enjoy-
ing the light show. The
show will be set to music,
which will be broadcast on
106.9 FM.
Donations of non-per-
ishable food items will be
accepted and donated to
CAPECO for the duration
of the display. The light
show will remain opera-
tional from Dec. 1 through
the New Year’s holiday.
The Port of Morrow ac-
cepted an offer from David
Pichcuskie and hired him
to construct the display.
Pichcuskie is known for
his home Christmas light
display in Stanield.
“Moving the show is an
opportunity to share it with
more people and gather do-
nations for a great cause,”
Pichcuskie said.
Trees and other Christ-
mas décor will be illumi-
nated alongside a spray rig,
a combine, and a tractor,
all provided by Morrow
County Grain Growers.
“The Christmas light
show is a beautiful display
that many people will be
able to enjoy as we kick off
the holiday season,” said
Kalie Davis, SAGE Center
manager. “Morrow County
Grain Growers donated the
equipment that will be fea-
tured in the light show and
David has done a wonderful
job of including the farm
equipment in the show.”

Willow Creek Baptist Church members say they wanted to express their love for the Heppner
community through service. That’s why, on Saturday, Nov. 14, the church members cut limbs
and brush in the area behind the old swimming pool along Cannon Street. Pictured (L-R) are

Christmas tree permits
available
Pendleton—Christmas
tree permits for the Umatil-
la National Forest are now
available to purchase at
forest ofices and at several
local businesses, including
Heppner Shell. Permits are
valid on National Forest
system lands only and do
not authorize tree cutting
on private, state, or other
federally-managed lands.
Permits cost $5 each
and are limited to one per
household. Tree permits
and forest maps are avail-
able during regular ofice
hours, Monday through
Friday at the Umatilla
Ranger District ofices in
Ukiah and Heppner, and
at the supervisor’s office
in Pendleton. Tree permits
are also available at several
local businesses that are
open evenings and weekend
hours. Heppner Shell and
Rhode’s Supply in Ukiah
are among the businesses
that carry the permits.
This year, all fourth
graders are eligible for a
free tree permit through
the national Every Kid in a
Park initiative. In order for
students to receive a free
tree permit, they must pres-
ent a valid paper voucher
printed from the Every Kid
in a Park website. Just visit
www.everykidinapark.gov
and follow instructions to
obtain and print the paper
voucher. Then, bring the
paper voucher with you to
your local National Forest
Office to claim the free
permit. Students must be
present to pick up the free
permit. These free permits
can only be issued through
the National Forest Ofice
and will not be available
through local vendors who
sell permits.
