Mustangs taking nine to state

took seventh place, and last
year the team brought home
the second-place trophy.
The girls’ tournament is
being held at Eagle Crest
Golf Course, just outside
of Redmond.
Logan and John par-
ticipated at last year ’s
3A/2A/1A State Cham-
pionship. The boys’ team
finished in eighth place
and Logan took home
19 th place honors in the
80-player field. This year’s
tournament will be held at
Quail Valley Golf Course
in Banks.

Two local Heppner FFA Chapter members/alumni received their American FFA Degree this
past year, Maggie Collins and Garrett Robinson. Collins is the daughter of Tim and Jeannie
Collins, and Robinson is the son of Kyle and Darcy Robinson, all of Heppner. The American
FFA Degree is given to less than half of one percent of all FFA members, making it one of the
organization’s highest honors. Some of the requirements that have to be fulfilled to achieve
this award include: A record of outstanding leadership in high school and beyond, having been
out of high school for at least one full year, having earned $10,000 and invested back $7,500
(entrepreneurship) or worked 2,250 hours (placement), and having completed more than 50

May 28, at the Morrow
County Fairgrounds in Hep-
pner. The evening will get
underway at 6 p.m. and
dinner will follow at 6:30.
The main program will be-

dinner.
The event is free to
the public. All community
members are invited to join
the FFA chapter in celebrat-
ing with the members and
recognizing their successes
over the year.
