The Heppner Mustang Big River Invitational Tour-
golf teams did well at the nament last week. The girls’
team continued to dominate
the local golf scene as they
won the nine-team event.
They also had the first-,
second- and third-place
individual finishers in the
tournament. The boys’ team
finished in second place,
losing by only two strokes
to a very strong Golden-
dale, WA team.
Winning the tourna-
ment for the girls was So-
phie Grant. She shot an 88
to finish in first place at the
event. Following her were
Paige Grieb and Maddie
Lindsay, who both shot
94s. Grieb was awarded
the second place medal on a
scorecard tie-breaker. Mad-
die took home the third-
place medal and Amanda
Rea shot a 101 to finish out
the team scoring. Riane
Dompier and Emily Rea
also golfed for the Mustang
team at the tournament.
Logan Grieb led the
boys’ team with a 78 and
finished in second place
overall. John Propheter
took home the fourth place
medal by shooting an 87
and Ross Cutsforth tied for
fifth place with an 88. Brian
Rill had a good day and
rounded out the scoring for
the team. Tommy Bredfield
served as the alternate team
member.
Both teams will travel
to Union on Friday and
participate in a large tour-
nament that will be held at
Buffalo Peak Golf Club.

Another Reason to Speak in Tongues
The number one reason for ministerial dropout is
not money or morals but discouragement. Jude verse
20 says to build up yourselves on your most holy
faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. This can be a very
powerful means of overcoming discouragement. It is
not meant to be a means of dealing with clinical de-
pression or any such thing as that, but I Corinthians
14:4 says, "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue
edifieth himself." I'm not sure just how to explain
this: like the old fellow said, "it's better felt than
telt." We walk by faith, not by sight, and certainly
not by feelings. "Feelings," is a poor word to use to
describe what I want to say, but there is something
about praying in tongues that gives a sense of God's
anointing. An assurance that he is involved. It builds
faith, confidence and peace. There is a sense of pow-
er in it! Yes, he that speaks in an unknown tongue
encourages himself.
