Friends of the Heppner
Library awarded Volunteer
of the Year to Pat Struthers
at the group’s annual Love
Your Library meeting, held
Thursday, Feb. 12.
The keynote speaker of
the event was retired school
teacher and local historian
Lucille Peck.
Peck gave a presenta-
tion based on her booklet,
“Files of Time: Keeping
Track of Your Genealogy,”
in which she encouraged
people to consider histori-
cal events when compiling
personal data, as it will
often give understanding
to the reasons for family
relocations and deaths.
Peck was followed by
Marsha Richmond, library
district director, who shared
the opportunities avail-
able for doing genealogy
research at the local library.
The meeting concluded
with an update by Shan-

Arbuckle Nordic Ski Club members said last Saturday was
a time for “stripping off the polar fleece and slapping on the
sun screen” as they made their way up the 070 spur towards
Arbuckle Mountain. It was a steady uphill climb with a few
bare spots to walk through, but the scenery and sunshine made
up for it. A head-on encounter with a snowshoe hare added a
bit of excitement. “You’d think our five-dog pack would be pro-
viding meat for our lunchtime stew, but after a brief interlude
of chaos, not a drop of blood was spilled,” joked one member.

Are You Only Half A Person?
In I Cor. ll we are told that just as the human body
has many parts, so does the church. Most of us don't
do well at walking on our hands and I can't write
so you can read it with my feet. Just as the hands
and feet need each other, we each need all the other
members of the body of Christ. Find a good Bible
believing church and join with them every time you
have opportunity. Let them minister to you and you
find a place to serve among them. You'll be amazed
at how much more complete you will be.
