To the editor—
We would like to say congratulations to the Heppner
Mustang football team. You were awesome this season.
So proud of how you played and conducted yourselves—a
great example of working together and good sportsman
ship. Your attitudes will carry you a long way in your
future endeavors.
We were disappointed with a group of seven Heppner
women and mothers who so rudely and blatantly stood at
the rail and blocked the view of some of us spectators who
were in the lower seats. Our view was blocked and you
made it impossible to see a lot of the last half of the game.
We had paid for our seats with anticipation of watching
the whole game— it was too cold to move higher up to
wet and snowy seats.
We asked politely if you would please sit down and
you refused. A lady from Helix made a comment about the
rudeness displayed. A fan from Bums stated that it was sad
our own Heppner crowd was behaving in such a manner.
She talked to you, too, and again you refused to listen.
Some o f your comments to and about the cheerlead
ers were very uncalled-for. They were freezing cold and
trying their best under very adverse conditions. Shame
on you.
Again, congratulations to the team, cheerleaders.
Coach Grant and his staff. You’re the best.

Jeri McElligott, Director of Religious Education at St. Wil
liam’s Catholic Church, lone, and Keaton Coiner presented a
check for $580 to Fr. Kumar Ddagandla of St. Mary’s Parish
in Pendleton Sunday. The money was raised by students at St.
William’s through bake sales and collecting coins, and, along
with $309 raised through a second collection at Mass, will buy
Christmas gifts for Fr. Kumar's children’s home in India. This
is the second year the students have done fundraisers for the
children. The fundraisers have, McF.lligott noted, shown them
being Catholic goes beyond attending Mass on Sundays. One
student commented, “When I grow up I want to have a chil
dren’s home just like Fr. Kumar.” Fr. Kumar, w ho was previ
ously the parish priest at St. William’s, expressed his gratitude
to parishioners for their generosity. -Contributedphoto

The below was submitted to E. Oregonian and Herm
iston Herald in response to their article(s) titled ’’Big,
Bad Common Core.. .or is it?” and “Area school officials
discuss some of the misconceptions about new education
standards,” dated Nov. 12 and 15, 2014.
My response concerning the truth, the origination, the
intent and consequences of “Common Core” and its new
education standards in area school systems:
Common Core...a rumor (as per the article)? No.
The term sustainable development was bom in the
pages of “Our Common Future,” the official report of the
1987 United Nations Commission (UNCED), Authored
by Gro Harlem Brundtland, VP of the World Socialist
Party.
The term Common Core is part and parcel of t h e
United Nations Rio Accord “Sustainable Development
Agenda 21.” The accord was officially signed by U.S. 1
President George H. W. Bush at the Rio conference in
1992.
Common Core is a reality...yes.
President Clinton’s signing o f “Goals 2000” es->
tablished the framework for U.S. National Standards,
Curriculum, and Assessments. All 50 states adopted
“Goals 2000,” thus receiving the funding that came with
it. Without knowing what, in its entirety, it entailed (aka
sign it and read it later).
In 2002 President George W. Bush creates “No Child
Left Behind,” and in 2003 ESD (Educational Sustainable
Development) was created, to leverage “The UN Decade ’
Project.”
Common Core has been steadily implementing itself
into our school systems under all kinds of designs and
fronts, under many different titles, ESD, NCLB, NGO,
NSCA, CCSS, SBA, and CC among them. Don’t know '
these acronyms? Seek and leam.
The idea of Agenda 21 or its “Common Core” agenda
has not as yet been presented to any of the federal or state
legislative bodies as of this date.
In 2012 President Obama rewrote the federal privacy
laws, allowing the powers to share all student academic
and personal records with virtually anyone. Scary?
Did your school superintendent, the school board, the
principal or your child’s teacher let you know about this...?
In the academic school year 2014-2015 Smarter Bal-'
ance Assessment must be fully implemented in Oregon
school districts in English language arts and mathematics.,
These were solely created by bureaucrats, NGOsi *
and committees mostly put together by non-teacher
input. Thus, astonishingly, “Common Core” so-called
standards were implemented virtually without regard to
any scientific or theory evidence of its value.
The 60 members o f two national committees and its
composition is highly suspect as to its motivation and
accountability of our nation’s school curriculums.
I implore you to research and leam the truth about
Agenda 21 and it’s designs on America, which is real, it’s
here and its intent is to divide and conquer the America
we have taken a pledge and oath to protect and defend
(against) any encroachment that will be detrimental to
our nation.
Common Core is not a rumor...if that’s the view of
our academic system, we are in trouble. We need to pray...
seek the truth...ask for courage and strength, and be care
ful of the rhetoric.
The stakes are high...our children’s education is
critical...the players in this effort are motivated to make
changes...we are the pawns...our nation’s educational
system is at the apex...control of our educational system^
which will ultimately lead to our Christian community,
is the goal of the United Nations.
