Grange celebrates fa ll County gets ready for 4-H Achievement Night

Night coming up on Sun­
day, Nov. 16, beginning
at 4 p.m. at the Morrow
County Fairgrounds in Hep­
pner. 4-H leaders and mem­
bers will be honored for all
o f their accomplishments
during the past 4-H year.
Awards will be given for
outstanding record books,
county medals, all-around
achievement, camp coun­
selors, ambassadors, all of
the awards from the fair,
the Becky Smith Memo­
rial Award, Leader of the
Year and, new this year, the
Friends of 4-H awards.
Memberships pins are
given to Cloverbuds and
Morrow County 4-H members recognized during the 2013 4-H Achievement Night. -Contrib­

seventh and ninth-year 4-H
members; all members who
recently completed those
years in 4-H will be rec­
ognized.
Entrée will be provided
by the Morrow County 4-H
Leaders Association. Fami-
lies with the last name be­
ginning w ith A-K are asked
to bring a dessert, and those
with their last name begin­
ning with L-Z are asked to
bring a side dish or salad.

will be Ted Case. Execu-
tive Director of the Oregon
Rural Electric Cooperatives
Assn., speaking on the his­
tory of the REA.
Multiple door prizes
will be awarded and results
o f the annual Electrical
Safety Poster contest will
be announced, with win­
ning entries on display.
All members are wel­
come to come and learn
about their electric co-op.
The City o f Heppner
would like to remind every­
one to insulate their water
meters this winter.
“It is important to pro­
tect the meter from freezing
before the tem peratures
drop. Now is the perfect
time,” says Heppner City
Manager Kim Cutsforth.
“Pettyjohn’s, the local hard­
ware store, stocks a piece of
insulation that is a perfect
fit. The cost is $2. Other
building supply stores carry
insulation, as well.”
Anyone who has a dif­
ficult time accessing their
meter to insulate it is en­
couraged to contact the
city for assistance. The city
will charge $75 plus cost of
materials for the repair of
any uninsulated meter that
becomes frozen.

Community lunch menu
United Methodist Church volunteers will serve lunch
on Wednesday. Nov. 5, at St. Patrick's Senior Center. The
meal will include chicken with broccoli, rice pilaf, sun­
shine carrots and peas, hot rolls, carrot cake, milk, coffee
and tea. Suggested donation is $3.50 per meal. Menu is
subject to change.
