BEO reports third-quarter earnings

announced third-quarter
2014 consolidated net
income o f $679,000, or
$0.58 per share, com -
pared to $851,000, or
$ 0 .7 8 p e r s h a re , for
third q u a r te r 2 0 1 3 .
Y ear-to-date earnings
were $1,944,000, down
a m arginal 2.1 percent
compared to last year’s
record earn in g s pace,
Total assets were $310.0
million, up 5.1 percent
year-over-year. Net loans
of $253.5 million were up
4.5 percent from the same
period in 2013, w hile
deposits were at $275.9
million, up 5.5 percent
year-over-year.
“ Year-to-date earn-
ings are comparable to
last year. During the third
quarter 2014, we took
proactive steps to address
a few lingering problem
assets w hich affected
quarterly earnings. Man-
agement will continue to
take steps to ensure our
loan loss reserve is well
positioned for the ex-
pected growth in the port-
folio,” said president and
CEO Je ff Bailey. “ We
are an agricultural-based
bank. While harvest re-
suits were spotty in some
areas, other areas had an
average crop. Even w ith
yields lower than we like
to see, we don’t expect
severe problems in the
loan portfolio.”
C hief Financial Of-
ficer Mark Lemmon said,
“ Year-to-date return on
average assets was 0.85
percent and return on
average equity was 10.7
percent compared to 0.95
percent and 12.74 per-
cent, respectively, from
the same three quarters
last year, due in part to
higher assets and higher
equity.”
