He is survived by his
wife of 64 years, Sylvia
Patnode, Hermiston; sons,
Pete Patnode and wife Suzi,
William J. “Billy” Ken­
ny, 85, of Heppner died
peacefully in his home,
surrounded by family, on
Monday, September 15,
2014. Funeral Mass w ill be
held 11 a.m. Friday, Sep­
tember 19, at St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church in Hep­
pner, with burial to follow
at the Heppner Masonic
Cemetery. Recitation of the
Holy Rosary will take place
Thursday, September 18,
at 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church.
Billy was bom in Hep­
pner on July 6, 1929 to
John and Bridget Kenny. He
graduated from St. Joseph’s
Academy in Pendleton,
where he participated in
football and learned how
to box. He attended Gon-
zaga University, where he
sang in the glee club, and
once performed with Bing
Crosby. He returned
home to take over
the family wheat
and cattle ranch at
his parents’ request.
He was drafted into
the army during the
Korean War not Wi l l
long after and was “Billv
offered the chance
to box for the Army. He
chose instead to serve as
a front line infantryman.
After he completed his mili­
tary service, he returned to
his family farm and married
his wife Marjorie on Oct
17, 1953.
It’s an understatement
to say that Billy could sing.
He was blessed with
a beautiful Irish
tenor voice, and
sang at many local
functions, includ­
ing weddings and
funerals. A devoted
Catholic, he lived a
long and rewarding
life working on his
farm and helping to raise
his family. He will be dearly
missed.
Billy Kenny is survived
by his wife of 60 years,
Marjorie Kenny; his seven
children and their spouses,
Joe and Linda, Kathy and
Ed, Jim and Vickie, Bill Jr.
and Amy, Karen and Jeff,
John and Judy, and Tom and
Nicole; 18 grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in
death by his parents; broth­
ers, Eddie, Matt, Emmett
and James; sisters, Ilene
and Patricia; and infant son,
Dennis William.

rangements.
Cheryl Kay Olsen,
59, of Richland, WA died
Wednesday, September
4, 2014 at Wynwood of
Columbia Edgewater As­
sisted Living Center. At her
request no public service
will be held.
She was born June
7, 1955 at Walla Walla.
WA, the daughter of Ron
and Faye Cutsforth Ol-
sen. Cheryl graduated from
Pasco High School in 1973.
She received an associate’s
degree in industrial drafting
from Columbia Basin Com­
munity College in Pasco.
WA. Cheryl worked as a
draftsman in Washington.
Texas, and California.
Cheryl loved to ski,
hike, travel, laugh and drink
stout beer. One of her fa­
vorite memories was trav­
eling through Europe with
her son, Justin, visiting
the Swiss Alps, Paris and
Cinque Terre, Italy.
Survivors include her
son, Justin, of Seattle, WA;
brother, David of Pasco;
aunt, Vesta Kilkenny of
Portland. OR; and numer­
ous cousins.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, Ron
Olsen and Faye Cutsforth,
and her sister, Karen Olsen.

Phillip is the son of

of Lexington. He graduated
from Heppner High School
and then went on to gradu­
ate from Western Oregon
University in Monmouth,
OR. He is currently em­
ployed with Farmers Insur­
ance in Hillboro, OR.
Katelin is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Lester and the late Lorinda
Lester of Vancouver, WA.
She graduated from Moun­
tain View High School in
Vancouver before going
on to attend Willamette
University in Salem, OR.
She is currently employed
at The Oregon Clinic in
Portland. OR.
The couple plans to
wed in The Dalles, OR in
the summer of 2015.

20 inches long.
