Ken Grieb for
county commissioner
Letter to the Editor:
It has grown continually disappointing to watch
inconsistent and negative campaigning seep into local
Eastern Oregon politics. It is a shame that our Morrow
County campaigns could not remain focused on what a
candidate brings and avoid the negative rhetoric.
We hope Morrow County citizens will weigh the facts
closely and vote the hard work, consistent message and
integrity of Ken Grieb for reelection to Morrow County
Commissioner. We support the county-wide visibility and
positive commitment Ken brings to where we live and
work, here in Morrow County.
The facts about Ken Grieb and his leadership:
-Served on Morrow County Planning Commission
and North Morrow Vector Control Board;
-Served as liaison to multiple committees and citizens
of Morrow County to the county court;
-Served the agri-business of Morrow County with
six-plus years as Wheat League President;
-Served as member of the Wheat League Executive
Board culminating as Executive President in 2003;
-Traveled to Washington DC 22 times to lobby for
the wheat growers of Morrow County, Oregon and agri
business in general, during which time Ken garnered
invaluable leadership experience from national leaders
and lawmakers;
-Served on the Morrow County Grain Growers Board
of Directors;
-Member of ICABO and Heppner, Boardman and
Irrigon Chambers of Commerce;
-Athletic Booster and supporter in each o f the
communities of Morrow County;
-Self employed business owner over 28 years and
continues ownership and operation;
-Livestock auctioneer at one of the largest county
combined events, Morrow County Fair, serving over
25 years as the auctioneer, as an exhibitor and time as
livestock judge;
-Volunteer: AYSO youth soccer, C olt sports,
PYB basketball, NEOJGA youth golf, countless
hours to elementary HEROES reading and classroom
volunteer—Ken’s generosity is known for committing
hours auctioneering for community and county-wide
fundraising events. Ken’s willingness to donate and
volunteer in our communities is impossible to equate;
-South Morrow County 2010 Man of the Year—Ken’s
commitment to the youth of our communities stems well
past his own young family. This commitment was a
common thread voiced in the numerous letters of support
for his Man of the Year nomination. He was commended
for his level of support of our schools and youth growth
through involvement in activities. Many leaders also
expounded on Kens civic-minded approach to his dealings
with youth and the county, noting his commitment to link
county efforts with community needs;
-Morrow County Commissioner: seven and a half
years Morrow County Commissioner with an over 91
percent attendance record to county court meetings. This
is where the work of the county gets done. Ken actively
participates in the management of Morrow County with
over 100 employees and a $20 million-plus budget. Ken
is available to the entire county. We have seen his hours of
time, beyond the required meetings, when Ken is in phone
conferences, even while on scheduled vacation with his
family, or taking phone calls from the many committees,
businesses or citizens needing his assistance. Ken is
known to excuse himself even at his children’s athletic,
concerts or other events to give time to county and citizen
needs. We witness Ken endlessly giving citizens an ear
with concerns at any event any time. His effort and
commitment to Morrow County is always evident. This
level of commitment is impossible to equate to a per-hour
pay or financial valuation. Ken is a county commissioner
that is available to his constituents.
Ken Grieb considers himself a citizen of Morrow
County and has close ties to each community. Long before
he considered being a commissioner Ken had always been
visible in each of the communities of Morrow County.
His desire to serve all, without special interest, is evident.
Ken is civic minded and committed to our communities,
proven by his support in both his time and his resources.
Ken further has proven his honesty and integrity by
keeping his skills, experience and commitment to Morrow
County his focus. We hope you will consider the facts and
join us in voting for someone we know is committed to
and has the best interest of all of Morrow County at heart.
Vote Ken Grieb Morrow County Commissioner.
Sincerely,
Todd and Melissa Lindsay, Heppner
