lone track has busy week,
works to beat personal bests

The lone High School
track team travelled to Finn
Rock Friday, April 4. for the
McKenzie River Aaron &
Marie Jones Invitational,
lone men took fifth place
with 46. while the womens’
team placed fourth with
48.5.
In addition, nine team
members scored personal
records (PRs) and one
set a season record (SR).
PRs and SRs are noted
in the individual stats to
follow. Two team members,
Markus Smith and Karsen
Dumler, both had PRs in
all their events. All lone
team members except one
either placed in their events
or had a PR or both; that
other member was very
consistent with last week's
marks.
Aside from those team
achievements, lone also had
seven men and three women
participate in and complete
the 2K Steeplechase.
T rack and fie ld
p a r t i c i p a n t s had the
opportunity to attend the
U niversity o f O regon/
Arizona Challenge track
and field meet in Eugene
last Saturday. Sixteen of
lone’s 22 team members
enjoyed watching the two
college teams compete.
Many members took away
information to improve
t h e m s e l v e s in t h e i r
individual events, and
learned more about the
track and field sport.

Heppner Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students will be at the Double Tree
Hotel in Portland Thursday, April 10, through Saturday, April 12, to join more than 2,000
other students from 52 schools statewide to compete at the state level for FBLA. The students
will be participating in various events for the chance to travel to FBLA nationals in Nashville,
TN in July. Those representing Heppner High School are (pictured above): Kayla Kindle
and Blake Greenup, Management Decision Making; Erica Nelson, Job Interview; Lexi Bray
