Local deputies on patrol for
illegal stops
Morrow County
Sheriff's deputies will be
patrolling for illegal stops,
the City of Heppner reports.
Several local citizens
have c o mp l a i n e d that
drivers are not stopping at
stop signs or are not making
a legal stop at marked areas.
The
s h e r i f f ’s
department has asked their
deputies to watch for these
infractions and to attempt to
stop the practice of rolling
through stop signs.
According to Oregon
law, drivers must stop
at a marked stop line or
crosswalk on the pavement,
if there is one. If there is
no stop line or crosswalk,
stop before the unmarked
crossing area.
I f t h e r e a r e no
pedestrians, pull forward
until able to see traffic
coming from the left and
right, but before entering
the intersection.
