their games with Stanfield
and Pilot Rock. The team
currently has a 4-3 record
for the season.

up the heat. Because of the

the M ustangs applied,
Stanfield was only able to
score a total of 13 points in
the second half. Heppner

The JV 1 team plays on
the same night as the varsity

Several boys play on
both teams in order to allow
them to play in more games

Caden Hedman had six and
Jake Lindsay five.
Weston Putman, Kevin

the Stanfield game, Putman

Cutsforth nine.
Murray and Jeremiah

At Pilot Rock the team
led from start to finish.

Mustangs. Hedman chipped
in 10, Currin eight, Kaden
Corbin six and Jeff Dowdy
two.
They next beat
Stanfield 56-54. A basket by
Kevin Murray at the buzzer
was the difference in this
one. Once again Lindsay
led the team in scoring
with 19. Murray followed
with 15, with nine of those
coming from the free throw
line. Hedman scored seven,
Currin six and Petzoldt five.
Ryan Cecil scored four
points in the game.
The team then lost to
Arlington 47-46. They had
a shot at the buzzer to win
but it didn’t go in.
H edm an scored 16
points in the game and
Currin had 10. Lindsay,
Murray and Petzoldt all
had six each and Arbogast
scored two.
In another game with
Stanfield the M ustangs
opened up a big lead and
were able to hang on to
get the win by a score of
50-45. Everyone on the
team scored in the game
and it was Murray who led
them with 14. Lindsay and
Hedman both had 10 points
and Currin eight. Kaden
Corbin, Cecil, Arbogast and
Dowdy all had two points
for the Mustangs.

“ We came out and

of intensity,” said Spivey.
“It was a pretty close
game most o f the way;
it was a tough day for a
couple of our shooters, ball
just wouldn’t drop in the
hole, and turnovers also
plagued us.”
Sophomore Tre Neil
had 18 points and seven
rebounds, Jason Juarez
had three rebounds and six
assists, freshman Donald

rebounds, three blocked
shots and six steals.
“Tre played a great

Proud of my boys, how

“We came out and
played Umatilla tough.
Our defense was a lot better
tonight than it was against
Irrigon the night before,
lone boys were kicking
themselves from the night
before for letting the Irrigon
game get away from them;
they played hard and held
the lead to the final buzzer
against Umatilla,” Spivey
said.
“Tre’ Neil had a whale
of a game, 20 points and 11
rebounds in two quarters.
Tre’ was a dominating
force in this game. He was
unstoppable! Jason Juarez
also had a great game with
five assists, four steals.
Most o f the assists was
dishing off to Tre’.
“The team is getting
better each game; they
are looking forward to the
Joseph game next week
and then getting back into
league play,” concluded
Spivey
