Electrical safety poster contest winners

Poster Contest.
Two of the elementary
schools in the territory
responded with winners.
Heppner Elementary
School was represented
by firs t-p la c e w in n er
Hannah Green and second-
place w inner A ubriana
Rodriguez.
Condon Grade School
had first-p lace w inner
Mackenzie Aamodt, and
the second-place winner is
Jessie Nation.
Brrr...
The competition was
open to all fourth graders
in Columbia Basin’s service
territory. The 2013 winners
were announced at the
CBEC annual meeting held
in Fossil on Thursday, Nov.
14.
First place w inners
were aw arded $20 and
second place winners were
awarded $ 10.
“E le ctricity is like
most tools: it can make
our lives m uch easie r
and more pleasant, but
if used carelessly, can be
dangerous,” said a CBEC
representative.
CBEC announces photo contest winners

announced the winners in its
ninth annual photography
contest.
Shari Ober of Lexington
won first, second and third
place in the people/animals
category with photos of the
CBEC linemen working
on a pow er pole and a
picture of her cat Pookie
with the power lines in the
background.
Fi rst pl ace in the
landscape/general interest
category went to Kathy
Tellechea of Lexington with
a scenic photo o f an old
bam and wind mill. Second
and third place went to
Shari Ober of Lexington for
a photo of a farmyard with
water trough and one with
a piece of farm equipment
with the power lines in the
background.
The c o m p e t i t i o n
was open to all members/
consumers o f Columbia
Basin Electric Co-Op. The
winners were announced at
the CBEC annual luncheon
meeting held in Fossil on
Thursday, Nov. 14, with the
winning photos on display.
Each entry had to have
some element of electrical
infrastructure in it and had
to have been taken within
the CBEC service territory.
Three places were awarded
in each category, with ...it’s cold! This backyard fountain attests to the recent
$50, $35 and $15 prizes temperature drop in South Morrow County. -Contributedphoto

The contest received
16 entries this year from
five applicants. CBEC
a p p r e c i a t e s al l t h e
participating consumers
who submitted photos for
consideration and urges all
members to think about this
annual contest throughout
the year, and take photos as
the opportunities arise.
HHS Booster Club
purchases new mats
Gather rewards
cards when you
shop locally
It’s time to start collecting the rewards cards for
Heppner's Celebrate Christmas event on Thursday, Dec.
19, at the Morrow County Fairgrounds.
Anyone who shops locally at participating merchants
can get rewards cards (sorry, doesn’t count when making
payments on account), so community members are
encouraged to save the cards and plan on joining the
community for a great evening Dec. 19.

The HHS Booster Club recently purchased these new mats

During its November
meeting, The Heppner Jr/
Sr High School Booster
Club approved the purchase
of customized mats, which
were installed on the walls
under each basket in the
gym. The mats are an
upgrade from what was
there before and provide
improved protection.
The c lu b ’s by-law s
were also reviewed and
an amendment proposed
to the length o f terms for
some offices as well as
the monthly meeting date.
Those will be voted on at
the next meeting, Dec. 11
at 6 p.m. in the HHS library.
