Columbia Basin announces
energy efficiency rebates
C o l u m b i a B a s in
E lectric C ooperative in
conjunction with Bonneville
Power Administration is
announcing the availability
of energy efficiency rebates
for qualified efficiency
measures.
CBEC Manager Jerry
Healy said that the budget
for the next two-year cycle
is very limited. Rebates
will be awarded on a first-
come, first-served basis.
Rebates are available to a
broad range of consumers
in c lu d in g r e s id e n tia l,
commercial and agriculture.
In th e r e s id e n tia l
sector single, multifamily
and manufactured homes
qualify. Temporary housing
does not qualify. Rebate
o p p o r tu n itie s in th e
residential sector include
lig h tin g , show erheads,
new ap p lian ces, w ater
h e a tin g , HVAC (b o th
ducted and ductless) and
weatherization (including
insulation, window and
patio door replacement and
air sealing).
Commercial customers
can qualify for lighting
upgrades, ductless and
ducted HVAC system s,
in s u la tio n , w in d o w s,
refrigeration, kitchen and
food service equipment,
commercial clothes washers
and showerheads.
Q ualify in g electric
usage in the agriculture
sector is limited to food
production, vegetation
growth and the raising of
domestic livestock. New
agriculture construction
qualifies for rebates as do
variable frequency drives,
irrigation pump testing,
system analysis, scientific
irrig a tio n sc h e d u lin g ,
irrigation system upgrades
and freeze resistant stock
tank fountains.
All of these measures
come with requirements
for qualifying that must be
met before any rebate will
be awarded. Healy also
stated that members cannot
purchase these upgrades in
advance of qualifying and
verification of the measures.
Again, Healy wants to
remind members that funds
are very limited, will be
awarded on a first-come,
first-served basis, members
should not proceed without
p re-ap p ro v al from the
co o p erativ e, and when
the funds are expended, a
moratorium will be placed
on the program until the
next funding cycle.
