Need room for your vegetables to grow"? Want to plant lots of sunflowers or flowers for display?
Interested in harvesting your own pumpkins? Now is the time to sign up for plots at the Heppner
Community Garden located by the Heppner High School's greenhouse. Water is provided,
but each gardener is responsible for weeds and to keep their plot in good condition. Chemical
spraying is not allowed. While there is no charge, any help with soil improvement or year-end

locally by the Heppner Garden Club and nationally by the National Garden Club Federation.

in Heppner this Saturday
morning is a good one, so
far, but even if it's too cold
or you are not a walker,
you are invited to come
down to a toasty warm All
Saints Episcopal Church
to enjoy a delicious, free
brunch, visit with friends
Chorale group begins
rehearsals
and donate towards the fight
against MS.
“ We will be serving
sausage and egg casseroles,
ham, hash brown and egg
casseroles, French toast
casseroles, a variety o f
muffins, fruit, juice, coffee,
tea and milk. Also this year
we are serving a lactose
free/egg free casserole for
walkers who are lactose
intolerant or can’t eat eggs,”
said brunch organizer April
Sykes. “Everything should
be really yummy.”
R egistration for the
walk will start at 9 a.m. at
All Saints, 140 W. Church
St., Heppner, the walk gets
underway at 10 a.m., with
the brunch to follow. Every
one is invited to attend.
Chamber lunch
meeting
The Inland Northwest
Chorale begins rehearsals
on April 22 for this year’s
“Pop Concerts in the Park”.
The rehearsals are held on
M onday evenings each
week at 7 p.m. at Harris Jr.
Academy, 3121 SW Hailey
Avenue in Pendleton, OR.
Car-pooling is available
from the Hermiston area.
Spring is here and for4-H'ers it is time to begin working with

lunch meeting. Sage will
make a presentation about
the soon to be open “SAGE
Center.” The lunch meeting
is held in the Senior Center

and there was bruising.

motor home parked in front

the people inside threw beer
cans and garbage out of it.
The caller said the subjects
picked up the garbage and
left, but the motor home had
no plates and the suspects
may have been drinking.
-MCSO received report of
rocks on the roadway on
Highway 74, lone, after a
rainstorm and the caller said
she had to swerve around
some large ones. ODOT
was advised.
-MCSO received report
from an Irrigon woman
who said she has a contract
with another woman for the
sale of her vehicle, but the
other woman hasn’t made
any payments and refuses
to give the car back. The
caller wanted advice as to
what she could do about it.
-MCSO Deputy reported
that he made contact with
an elderly male who was
sleeping in the back o f
a vehicle at the Heppner
Park. The deputy was un
able to contact the subject’s
relatives, so advised that he
could stay the night. The
subject said he would be
staying with a friend the
next day.
-MCSO Deputies advised
they were out at bars in
Heppner and Irrigon for bar
checks.
-Heppner Ambulance re
ported an emergency trans
port to the Lexington Air
port.
April 6: MCSO received re
port that a Heppner woman
and man were doing drugs
around the woman's two-
year-old son. The caller
requested a welfare check
on the child.
-MCSO received report
from a Boardman woman
that her 16-year-old son
was supposed to be home
by 1 a.m., but he had not
returned home by 3:29
a.m. She reported that she
had received text messages
from him saying that he was
fine and in Hermiston.
-MCSO received report
of garbage dumped at the
Umatilla Refuge in Irrigon.
A deputy responded and the
garbage was disposed of.
-MCSO received report
from a Heppner business
that a Ford Bronco had been
parked in his lot for the past
day and a half and he would
like it removed. When dep
uty responded, the vehicle
was already gone.
-MCSO received report
from a Heppner woman
that she found several beer
cans behind her property
and there were signs that
vehicles had been parked
there. The caller believed
that kids may have been
partying there. A deputy ad
vised that he would watch
the area.
-MCSO received report of a
vehicle in the ditch at 1-84
Boardman with people in
side with their feet propped
up. The caller would like
MCSO contact after the
deputy has been there.
-MCSO cited Rebecca Lynn
Taylor, 57, for Violation of
the Basic Rule, 75 mph in
a 55 mph zone.
-MCSO received report of
a gray mini-van weaving
in and out of traffic and
driving 100 mph on 1-84
Boardman. MCSO could
not locate the vehicle and
OSP was advised.
-MCSO received report of
keys found on Washington
St. in Irrigon. The caller
wanted a deputy to pick up
the keys. MCSO received
a 911 call from the same
caller, who, on call back
said he had just spoken with
MCSO regarding keys he
had found.
-MCSO received report that
people who live in an RV
park in Irrigon drink and
drive, have parties “all the
time” and block the road.
-MCSO cited Robert Dee
Gilmore for Violation of the
Basic Rule, 87 mph in a 55
mph zone.
-MCSO received report
from an anonymous Hep
pner subject who advised
that a male subject just left
her house in an older red,
jacked up Chevy pickup
intoxicated on pain pills.
The caller said she believed
the subject was headed to
Lexington. A deputy was
advised, but was unable to
locate the vehicle.

Kathleen Lewis McCov-
ery, 43, for Violation of the
Basic Rule, 76 mph in a
55 mph zone, and driving
without a license.
-MCSO received request
for deputy contact from
an Irrigon man who said
his neighbor’s dogs bark
and chase cards and snap
at people. A deputy re
sponded and spoke with the
dog owner. The owner was
warned and advised that a
citation would be issued in
the future.
-MCSO received report
from an Irrigon woman that
a child, who was out play
ing, told her that a man tried
to open her door and then
started knocking. The caller
wanted deputy contact.
-MCSO received a request
from Good Shepherd Hos
pital for a welfare check
on a female in Irrigon who
was earlier released from
the hospital. GSH reported
that the female’s husband
had called them about her
low blood sugar, but would
not or could not follow their
instructions. Irrigon Am
bulance responded, but the
patient refused transport.
April 7: Irrigon Ambulance
received request for an
ambulance from an Irrigon
man who said his sick wife,
who had just been released
from the hospital, was shak
ing and jerking really bad
and couldn’t keep anything
down.
-MCSO received request
for a deputy from a bar in
H eppner who said they
wanted assistance in kick
ing someone out. A deputy
responded and the situation
was resolved. The deputy
gave the subject a courtesy
ride home.

-Irrigon Ambulance re
ceived report that a 70-year-
old female had fallen and
needed assistance getting
back up. An ambulance
responded and assisted in
lifting her.
April 1 - MCSO received
a report from a Hermiston
man who reported a man
wearing an orange jumpsuit
jumping a fence onto the
frontage road.
MCSO received a citizen
assist request from a man
who said his boys let his
dog out into the backyard.
He stated the yard is fenced
but he is afraid the dog
might get out. He said the
back patio door is open and
the three boxers are friendly
and not aggressive. The
fence is electric. The man
stated he would be off work
in an hour.
- The Mayor of lone asked
for help from the Sheriff
in regards to the Dog Or
dinance in lone. She asked
how much the county could
help them without a con
tract. It was reported that a
woman was bitten by a dog
at an lone address and was
taken to urgent care.
- MCSO responded to a
Trespass report filed by
an lone woman. It was re
ported that the back doors
to the home were open and
the front door frame was
broken. It did not appear
anything had been taken. A
report was filed.
- MCSO received a report
from an Irrigon man that a
pit bull keeps running out
onto the road. He stated the
dog belongs to the house on
the comer. The deputy was
unable to locate the dog.
- MCSO received a report
from an Irrigon woman who
stated her daughter refused
to return property that in
cluded a film projector and
movie reels. The woman
said the daughter is black
mailing family members for
its return.
- Cory Patrick Winston,
30, Irrigon, was arrested
by MCSO Probation and
Parole and is lodged at the
Umatilla County Jail with
no bail.
April 4: Morrow County
Sheriff’s Office received
report o f a Ford Ranger
pickup parked in an unusual
location with one person in
it possibly sleeping or with
a medical condition in lone.
Caller requested a deputy to
check it out.
-MCSO arrested Joel Ro
driquez, 27, on an Irrigon
Justice Court warrant for
Failure to Appear/Harass-
ment. He was lodged at
Umatilla County Jail to
serve a 180-day sentence
with $3,313.48 bail.
-MCSO received report of
a man who had fallen from
a ladder in Heppner, who
had bleeding from the head
and had “raspy breathing”.
He was transported to Pio
neer Memorial Hospital in
Heppner.
-MCSO received a report
from a subject in Irrigon
that a dog was chasing his
Jeep and he couldn’t get
his dogs out o f the Jeep
because of his neighbor’s
pitbull/boxer mix and it
