Luke Padberg— Luke Padberg, 57, of Heppner died
Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at his home. A memorial
service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 16, at All
Saints Episcopal Chruch in Hepptjpr. with a reception to
follow in the church parish hall.
A complete obituary will follow in next week’s Ga
zette-Times. Sweeney Mortuary of Heppner is in charge
of arrangements.

January 29, 2013, at Eagle
Springs Memory Care in
Walla Walla, WA. A private
graveside service was held
at Mountain View Cem
etery in Walla Walla.
Kathryn was bom May
19, 1923, to Sophrona and
Robert Thompson in Hep
pner, OR. She grew up on
a sheep ranch and was a
descendent of a long line of
pioneers. Her great-great
grandfather was Levi Scott,
who rode with the Apple-
gate Brothers to create a
southern route into the Wil
lamette Valley in 1846.
She graduated from
Heppner High School and
attended Oregon State Uni
versity, where she stud
ied accounting. Kathryn
was a skilled rider and. in
1940, she was crowned
the Heppner rodeo queen.
She married Paul Webb.
Jr. on Nov. 11, 1942, and
they moved to Walla Walla,
where they raised wheat
and cattle. They returned to
Heppner in the early 1950s
and raised sheep. She was
teased by family members
and friends that she herded
sheep in her fur coat. In
1960, they moved back to
Walla Walla and farmed
wheat. Kathryn enjoyed
playing golf and spending
time with her family and
friends. She was a member
of PEO, St. Paul’s Epis
copal Church, Bridgettes,
Walla Walla Wheat Grow
ers and the Walla Walla
Country Club.
She enjoyed all aspects
