FFA holds fruit sale
Apples, pears at ‘great low price
The H ep p n er FFA
Chapter annual fruit sale
is back.
“We are thrilled to be
able to offer fresh, local
apples and pears to our cus­
tomers at very reasonable
prices.” says FFA advisor
Beth Dickenson. “Thanks
to the support of Davis Or­
chards in Milton-Freewater,
we are able to offer quite the
variety of apples.. .at a great
low price.”
Apples available in­
clude 20-pound boxes of
Fuji for $16 or Cameo,
Red D elicious, G olden
Delicious, Granny Smith,
Gala or Braeburn for $14.
Twenty-eight-pound boxes
of D’Anjou or Bose pears
are on sale for $25.

Fruit will be delivered to
Heppner on Friday, Oct. 19,
during the home football
game. For those who are out
of the area, arrangements
can be made for pick-up or
delivery.

Boardman reviews strategic
plan
The Boardm an City
Council reviewed the city's
strategic plan at its meeting
Tuesday, Oct. 2. Staff from
each of the city’s depart­
ments gave feports on their
respective departm ents.
City Manager Karen Pet­
tigrew reviewed each of
the eight action plans in the
strategic plan and gave an
update on each one.
The city’s strategic plan
was updated in March and
prioritizes projects, or ac­
tion plans, which the city
plans to accomplish, with a
deadline in which the proj­
ect will be completed.
First on the list were
sidewalks. Public Works
Director Dave Winters re­
ported that the crew will
be starting with sidewalks
along Boardman Avenue
NE, in front o f the high
school, by the middle of
October. Other action plans
such as paving Olson Road
and the beautification of
the medians at City Center
Circle are already in the
works. The next review of
the strategic plan is sched­
uled for January 2013.
The next meeting o f
the Boardman City Council
will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, at
7 p.m.
