A few last minute changes and a whole lot of assistance helped
put together the 2012 lone prom held at the Port of Morrow
this past Saturday. The junior class and their advisor, Erin
Heideman, are very appreciative of all the parent and staff
who worked to make their night so fun. Top: Students from
lone Community School and their guests danced the night
away at the Port of Morrow for their 2012 prom. Bottom: The
lone Junior Prom hosted Wild Bill's Traveling Casino, which
brought with them professional dealers and all the fixin’s.
Students had the opportunity to play blackjack, Texas hold
‘em and roulette to earn chips they could redeem for prizes.

Smokey the Bear
visits lone students
lone students in grades kindergarten through third got a
chance to meet Smokey the Bear when he visited lone Com
munity School on April 10. Cindi Doherty read a story to stu
dents about Smokey’s life, and students watched a film about
learning to prevent forest fires. Students then asked questions,
gave Smokey the Bear hugs and high fives, and took pictures.

In the caption for the picture of the Heppner prom court in
last week's edition, under the headline “ Heppner prom court
rules the night,” the prom king and queen were incorrectly
identified as Justin Pranger and Carrie Haguewood. The king
and queen were actually Jake Bowles and Cassi Day. The
Gazette-Times apologizes for the error. Back (L-R): Mayci
Garrett, Natalie Rauch, Carrie Haguewood, Stephanie Shulyer
and Queen Cassie Day. Front (L-R): Seth Palmer, Andrew
Bara, Justin Pranger, Drew Brannon and King Jake Bowles.
