4-H held a western eq­
uitation clinic last Satur­
day at the Morrow County
Fairgrounds for area 4-H
members.
Horse clinician and
4-H horse judge Wendy
Andrews had a great class
o f members that ranged
from junior to senior levels.
Proper equipment, tack and
equitation horsemanship
were topics covered...all
information the members
would need for their 4-H
horse fair and shows.
Participating in the
clinic were Hannah Jones,
Lilly Sandford, Ashley
Price, Miranda Taylor, Vista
Sifford and Ivy Sandford.
Beautiful spring weather
allowed for a great day of
riding and learning.
The next 4-H horse
clinic will be Sunday, May
20, from 1-3 p.m.

softball derby to benefit
Sharon Miller was a success
on all counts according to
participants.
Six teams showed
up for the co-ed event,
each team sponsored by a
local business. Businesses
and individuals also do­
nated items to be raffled.
Altogether, the event raised
around $5,000.
“It was a fantastic
event and 1 think everyone
involved had a great time,”
said Josie Miller. “1 know
as a family we all feel very
honored and blessed to
be part of this community
and have such a great turn
out.”

The lone track team

Meet last Friday, April 13,
in Stanfield. Men placed
10"1; women were 14th. The
team boasted six PRs and
two more benchmarks.
Francisco Ramirez
ran the 800M and the 1500M
for the first time, both with
good performance. Other
PRs were Justin Estabrook
in the 200M, Luke Emmel
in the 400M, Kaid Peck in
the shot put, Emily Holland
in the javelin and Dominika
Senkerikova in the javelin.
The women’s 4x100 relay
team also performed well
with a new relay member,
Emily Holland for Char­
lette Burghard, running the
third leg.

Golf scramble planned
A nine-hole, four-man scramble with a shotgun
start will be held Saturday, May 12. Registration begins
at noon with golf play at 1 p.m. Cost is $20 per person.
Dinner is included following play.
The event is a fundraiser to help support Heppner
High School’s alcohol- and drug-free graduation party.
