It’s that time again
when the Heppner com
munity gets ready for the
holiday season and plans
special events that incor
porate merchant and com
munity involvement. The
season promises to be jam-
packed with activities and
celebrations.
Heppner rewards
card^ are back. November
14 through December 15,
the Heppner chamber will
be urging the community to
“shop locally” by continu
ing the use of the “Christ
mas Rewards Card.” There
will be three cards, valued
at $10, $20 and $50. Cus
tomers will be given the
appropriate rewards cards
for the value of their pur
chase. Shoppers can collect
the rewards cards and bring
them to the Celebrate Hep
pner Christmas event on
Thursday, Decem ber 15
to enter their cards for an
opportunity to win great
prizes that have been do
nated. Winners need not
be present, but must have a
designated person to enter
the rewards cards and pick
up the prize.
December 1 will
start with a merchant’s open
house/customer apprecia
tion day with extended
hours to kick off Christ
mas shopping. The evening
events will start at 5:30 p.m.
with local children decorat
ing the tree by the Post Of
fice with their homemade
ornaments. Chamber mem
bers and local merchants
hope the community will
“stay and shop” during
these extended hours. Rep
resentatives from Heppner
Elementary School will be
selling hot chocolate and
homemade items by the
post office. Carolers will
roam the streets, singing
in front o f the tree and
throughout downtown busi
nesses.
The “ C e le b ra te
Heppner Christmas” event
on December 15 will in
clude the annual Parade of
Lights, starting at 5:30 p.m.
(sponsored by Columbia
Basin). The parade entries
will be invited to park at
the fairgrounds, so parade-
goers can plan on going
out to the fairgrounds and
checking out the lighted
floats.
T his C h ristm as
event has become popular
enough to outgrow the Elks
Lodge, so the evening event
will be held immediately
follow ing the parade at
the Morrow County Fair
grounds. Dinner will begin
at 6 p.m.; introductions of
the exchange students will
start the evening program
at 7:15 p.m. Drawing o f
the rewards card winners
will be drawn at 7:30 p.m.
Santa will also be available
for pictures.
Parent-Teacher conferences
scheduled
Heppner High School parent-teacher conferences will be held on Friday, No
vember 4 from 8 a.m. to noon and Tuesday, November 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. Parents are
invited to drop in and visit with teachers during these times.
