Community calendar coming
The H ep p n er
Chamber of Commerce is
embarking on implementa
tion o f one of its 2011 -2012
goals, the creation o f a
comprehensive community
calendar.
H e p p n e r T V ’s
Channel 3 provided, for
many years, an excellent
method o f sharing com
munity information. The
demise of Channel 3 leaves
the community without a
central way to share infor
mation. A strategy meeting
including representatives
from a number o f entities
resulted in a plan to orga
nize, implement and main
tain the calendar.
The primary goal
of the community calendar
is to gather and publish
events that are scheduled
each month. The calendar
will initially include events
scheduled by the follow
ing: elementary and high
schools, churches, civic
groups, lodges, clubs, city
and county government of
fices and facilities, includ
ing 4-H and Morrow Coun
ty parks and fairground
activities, and chamber.
Coordinating with Heppner
Gazette-Times and North
Morrow Times will be vital
to the project.
A list is currently
being compiled of all the
different groups in Hep
pner, lone and Lexington.
Tfie list will be completed
and organizations contacted
both by mail and phone to
explain the goals of the cal
endar and request contact
names and inform ation.
Letters are expected to be
mailed by the first week
in November; the calendar
events and activities will
be added as quickly as
possible.
The com m unity
calendar can be found un-
