of the ambassadors’ duties
are fulfilled at the Morrow
County Fair. Occasionally,
ambassadors may be asked
to attend other fairs/festi-
vals within Morrow County
and neighboring counties.
On these occasions, ambas
sadors will have transporta

under a chaperon’s care.

ties? Once the top six are
selected, the reign o f the
ambassador begins and will
continue through Pendleton
Round-Up. The majority of
their duties will be held to
the Morrow County Fair.
As mentioned previously,
however, a few appearances
at other fairs/festivals and
media opportunities may be
required. Requirements are
that an ambassador may be
absent from no more than
one fourth of the activities.
Ambassadors must commit
to being on site for five of
the seven days of the fair,
usually from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. “Granted, that sounds
like very long days,” said
an Ambassador Program
spokesperson, “but with
all o f the ‘fair fun’, time
flies by.”
How do / become
an Ambassador? The first
step is to complete an ap
plication and return it to
the fair office prior to Sep
tember 25, 2011. Once the
applications are returned,
a committee will review
them and call to schedule a
personal interview (similar
to a job interview). The
interview day is set for
October 2, 2011, at 1 p.m.
The contestants will need
to have prepared a short,
one-to-three-minute speech
about them selves. Then
they will answer questions
for a panel of judges. Inter
views are not open to the
public. At the completion
of the interviews, the top six
scores will determine the
2012 Morrow County Fair
& Rodeo Ambassadors. The
event is closed to the public
but a reception will be held
for a meet and greet with
M orrow County Fair &
Rodeo Ambassador chaper
ons before, during and after
personal interviews, during
which time parents will be
asked to review and sign a
parent code of conduct.
