Roice R. Fulleton of
Heppner has been chosen as
the Grand Marshal for the 2011
Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo.
Fulleton and his wife,
Betty, moved to Heppner in
1952, when they bought the
C hevrolet dealership from
Gene Ferguson. They later
bought a ranch south of Hep­
pner, where they raised their
three daughters, registered
quarter horses and wheat.
Fulleton was a mem­
ber and officer of the Wran­
gler’s Riding Club for many
years. He participated in calf
roping and team roping in
Heppner and the surrounding
area, and won the Morrow
County Calf Roping saddle in
1959. He also spent countless
hours helping with the Morrow
County Horse Show and teach­
ing others to ride and rope.
He participated in se­
nior rodeos for 30 years, be­
ginning in Las Vegas in 1978;
he has competed in all of the
western states and in Canada.
As a member of the National
Senior Pro Rodeo Association
(NSPRA), Fulleton qualified
several time for the NSPRA
National Finals. He continued
to rodeo until 2007, when he
retired from the NSPRA at the
age of 90.
