Padberg & Lindsay for the Port
Voters, as you consider the candidates on your
ballot, please consider the importance of your choice.
We believe each of us want someone who will support
our community and meet the needs of our county as a
whole. If a candidate has an agenda and is too focused
on only one of these two, that candidate may not be able
to do the job he is elected to do. We feel each community
has received support from the Port of Morrow over the
years either individually or through the overall success of
the Port. This success has led to diverse jobs, which has
brought more opportunity to Morrow County.
We see a real value in retaining the two com
missioners, Marvin Padberg and Larry Lindsay, with
experience and knowledge of their positions. We believe
this will keep the Port on track to act appropriately as
opportunities arise, while continuing to provide service
to all of Morrow County.

Dear Editor:
I would like to apologize to my supporters for
not ordering enough campaign signs. 1 have been get
ting many offers to put out my signs for Port of Morrow
Commissioner that 1 have to decline.
There were only a limited number of signs made,
and it is too late to have more printed and delivered. The
level of your support has been wonderful. I am sorry that
I have no more signs to set out.
Although I can’t get my name out there on more
signs, I still hope that our message of local representa
tion for local issues and local jobs will get out to the
voters of Morrow County, and that my supporters will
understand.

Heppner Garden Club hosts
district meeting
Former Heppner boy earns
top college honor
Former Heppner student J.C. Sherritt won this
year’s Buck Buchanan Award, a national collegiate honor
recognizing the most outstanding defensive player in
the Football Championship Subdivision. The 5-foot-10,
220-pound Sherritt is strong-side inside linebacker for
Eastern Washington University.
Sherritt’s family moved to Heppner from Enter
prise in July of 1998, the summer before he started fifth
grade. The family later moved to Pullman, WA, w here the
young man led his high school football team to the 2006
state championship. The Seattle Times then named him
Washington’s Player of the year, and Eastern Washington
in Cheney gave him a full scholarship. He went on to help
the college win this year’s national title.
A recent Garden Club meeting took a creative turn as par
ticipants showed off their handiwork during a flower show.
The Heppner Garden Club was the host for the spring Blue
Mountain District meeting. Five clubs attended successful
displays of the country store,' treasure chest and a flower
show. The topic and meeting theme was water conservation.
