vendor fee up to $2.
Most vendors are
open early mornings, late
evenings and on the week­
ends. An additional fee is
not charged if you purchase
a permit at a Forest Service
Office.

Over the Tee Cup
Fourteen ladies braved the wind, hail and rain at
Willow Creek Country Club on April 26.
Low gross of the field was taken by Pat Edmund-
son. Low net was shared by Burul DeBoer and Bernice
Lott. Jan Paustion had the least putts of the field.
Low gross for the day were: Flight A, Nancy
Propheter; Flight B, Karen Thompson; Flight C, Bev
Steagal. Low net were: Flight A, Corol Mitchel; Flight B,
Lorrene Montgomery; Flight C, Lewilla Sonstegard.
Virginia Grant walked away with both the least
putts and the long drive for Flight A. Pat Dougherty had
the least putts for Flight B, and Burul DeBoer had the
long drive for that flight. Laura Rogers held least putts
and long drive for Flight C.
Pat Edmundson had the K.P. on hole #4 for Flight
A. Burul DeBoer had a chip-in on hole #3.

National Forest
Personal-use fire­
wood cutting on the Uma­
tilla National Forest opened
May 1, according to Kevin
M artin, Forest Supervi­
sor. Firewood permits can
be purchased at Umatilla
National Forest offices in
Pendleton, Ukiah, Heppner,
Walla Walla and Pomeroy.
H eppner Shell also has
permits available.
Firewood permits
can be purchased for $5 per
cord with a minimum pur­
chase of four cords for $20.

sonal-use firewood on the

Heppner R V group to meet
The Walkers will be hosting a gathering of past and
new RV group members at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at
their home on 50 Canyon Drive in Heppner. This meeting is to
determine interest level, and a travel and destination schedule
for this year.
Anyone who is interested in being part of this RV
group is welcome to attend, even if they’ve never traveled with
the group before.
If you need further directions to Canyon Drive or are
interested but unable to attend at that time, please call Ralph
or Sally at 541-676-9112 before the meeting.
Please bring any ideas you have for future trips.

team achieved six personal
records (PR) and Jeremy
Coleman ran his first ever
1500M race. He set a sea­
son benchmark of 6:53.8.
Tanner Rietm ann ran a
hand-time (HT) of 11.65 in
the 100M and Kaid Peck
ran 21.86 in the 100M (PR).
Bailey Haguewood set a PR
in the 200M at 28.3 HT.
Kaid Peck also set 2 other
PRs in the shot put with a
throw of 11 ’7.75 and in the
discus with 36’10”. Kirk
Haguewood secured first
place in the javelin with a
PR throw of 142’5.5”.
All five w om en
placed in all their events.
Makenna Ramos and Shad­
ow Kendrick ran season
best times in the 100M with
13.84 HT and 13.33 HT re­
spectively. The upset of the
day was Stacee Halvorsen’s
first ever 100M hurdles
race. She was a hurdle set
ahead of all the competition
on the ninth of 10 hurdles
when her trail leg brought
down the hurdle, conse­
quently tripping her and
rolling her out of bounds.
Regardless, she is ready
to tackle them again next
week. The men placed fifth
with 48 team points and
the women also placed fifth
with 46 team points.

with season best time of
11.71 HT;
