A view from the hill
By Doris Brosnan
A view o f the Wil
low Creek Terrace dining
room instantly registers
“change.” Missing are some
fam iliar faces, those o f
three residents who have
moved to other living ar
rangements. But the scene
now includes some new
faces, so the community
has had the opportunity to
become acquainted with
new neighbors. Liz Buel-
ler and Mabel Heath have
moved in, and two respite-
care visitors, Virginia Grieb
and Anna May Steagall,
will be adding to the social
camaraderie for at least a
couple o f months.
The new neighbors
have moved in time to get
involved in the spring proj
ect introduced to the Ter
race community two years
ago: The Garden. Some
preparation o f the garden
spot has been a gift from
George Seiler. Some deci
sions on what to plant have
been made. Some seeds are
in. Some sprouts are, up.
Some residents wonder if
the wind will ever stop long
enough to allow them to
get outside for some more
gardening!
While waiting for
the warmer, calmer, garden
ing, strolling and basking
weather, residents enjoy
opportunities to be active
while remaining warm. Ev
ery weekday morning is an
opportunity for physical ex
ercise, while also stretching
the gray matter with brain
games and conversation.
Opportunities for reading
or listening to books are
supplied by Sally Walker
and Suzanne Jepsen. If
Bingo or crafting is o f in
terest, opportunities arise1
every Monday and Friday
at the Terrace, thanks to Eve
lronhawk, Shirley George,
Mary Ann Elguezabal, Ja
net Greenup, and the HHS
National Honor Society. On
Thursdays, residents have
the opportunity to hear Pas
tor Katy Anderson entertain
at the Terrace piano. An
opportunity for discussions
comes on Thursdays when
Jepsen, N eva D eM ayo,
Betty Carlson, and Sharon
Woodside take turns read
ing the Gazette-Times with
residents. And, if Bingo on
Mondays is not enough to
satisfy, residents have the
opportunity to bus down
to the St. Patrick’s Senior
Center on Tuesdays and to
Lexington on Thursdays
for more.
Readers of this col
umn also have opportunities
at Willow Creek Terrace.
Guests who call in advance
