Heppner students win HHS holds first annual math competition

The team competition con
sisted o f four students in
each classification.

Nancy Propheter held the low gross of the field at
the Willow Creek Country Club Ladies Day on April 19.
Pat Edmundson had the low net, and Larrene Montgomery
had the least putts.

A bake sale fund
raiser for Travis Bellamy, a
Lexington native who was
seriously injured in a car acci
dent in Bend on April 15, will
be held this Friday, April 29
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front
of Bucknum’s Tavern.
T-shirts will also
be available for pre-order at
Bucknum’s for $20 each for
small to extra large and $25
each for 2x to 4x. The shirts
are all age appropriate.
A benefit show and
auction is planned at The
M ountain’s Edge Bar and
Grill in Bend with proceeds
going to Travis, who had no
health insurance. Featured acts
include “Dog Bite” (Aaron)
Harris, Matt Borden and Pine
Lane. A benefit show is also
planned at Bucknum’s in the
near future, with the date and
time to be announced. A fund
for him has also been set up
at the Bank of Eastern Oregon
for anyone wishing to make a
donation.
Travis, who sustained
critical injuries, is currently
still hospitalized at St. Charles
Medical Center in Bend.
It was a busy weekend at Representative Greg Smith’s rental
home when a pack of Heppner High School wrestlers showed
up with paint brushes in hand, ready to completely paint the
house in half a days time. The group joined together as a fund
raiser for the HHS wrestling team. -Contributedphoto

hold plant sale
The annual H ep
pner High School and FFA
plant sale will be held May
5-8 at the HHS greenhouse.
Hours are: Thursday, May
5 from 3 to 6 p.m.; Friday,
May 6 from 11 a.m. to 6
p.m.; Saturday, May 7 from
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sun
day from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Plant Science
class, FFA m em bers and
advisors will offer bedding
plants in annuals and peren
nials, vegetables, trees—
including a variety o f Japa
nese maples— herb baskets,
patio bowls and colorful
hanging baskets.
Proceeds from the
plant sale will go toward
supplies for the school’s
main greenhouse and for
finishing the construction
o f a second greenhouse.
Further proceeds will be
used to defray the costs o f
the local FFA chapter's trip
to the national FFA conven
tion in the fall.
