Halvorsen, Tetrick announce
engagement
Andrew Tetrick and Allison Halvorsen
Allison Halvorsen and Andrew Tetrick, both o f
Portland, are announcing their engagement.
Allison is the daughter o f Frank and Cathy Hal
vorsen o f lone. Andrew is the son of Scott and Susan
Tetrick o f Beaverton.
Allison is a 2001 graduate o f lone High School.
She received her Bachelor o f Arts degree in human and
family services from the University o f Oregon in 2005 and
her Master of Arts in teaching from Pacific University in
2007. She is currently a third grade teacher at the Creative
Science School in Portland.
___ Andrew is a 2001 graduate o f Sunset H igh School
iniieaverton. He attended The University of Puget Sound
to play football. He is currently a carpenter in Portland.
The couple plan to be married July 30, 2011 in
the lone City Park.

writers from Eastern Oregon for the 20“ annual Oregon Writ
ing Project at Eastern Oregon University on March 12. The
students attended three or four workshops each on diverse
topics such as book making, the water cycle, Germany, and
nature writing, led by EOU faculty, education students, and
local artists. Mathieu attended a workshop for teachers on
narrative spandrels led by the editors of the literary journal
basalt. All four attendees agreed that the day was well spent

Welly Toss event.
The Grain Growers donation, m any pairs o f

to see how far they can throw. The kids’ boots, donated
by Van Winkle are rubber, sized for small hands and very
cute.
Team competition begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

ing with his brother to haul
hay and check on cattle.
He was very good at point
ing directions which way
to go.
He had the privi
lege to take part in the Spe
cial Olympics. One year he
went to Michigan to the Na
tional Special Olympics. He
won the silver medal in the
long jum p and was fourth
in the soft ball. Duane and
Vonnie Scott both received
a gold medal at the Special
Olym pics in Idaho Falls,
ID.
Duane enjoyed at

church. He always liked to
take his little Bible with
him.
He is survived by:

Live mannequin display to promote
“Pirate Island” production
There will be a live mannequin display in the
window o f Sweet Productions and Victorian Rose from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. The event is
to promote Heppner High School’s drama department’s
dinner theatre productions o f “Pirate Island” .
The dinner theatre will be April 29-30. Advance
tickets will be on sale this weekend at Sweet Produc
tions. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for kids. There
is limited seating for this production.
