Lady Cards notch
two weekend wins
The lone Lady Car
dinals got their league sea
son off on the right foot with
two wins this past weekend,
defeating Horizon Christian
on the road in Hood River
on Friday, D ecem ber 17,
and Helix in lone on Satur
day, December 18.
The Lady C ards
stormed out to a 13-0 lead at
Horizon before the Hawks
warmed up a bit to close
the gap at halftime to just a
seven point margin, 23-16.
Two Hawk three-pointers
in the last m inute o f the
second quarter kept them
close. But a revived Car
dinal squad took the court
after the half and ran off 14
unanswered points to make
a six point game a 20 point
game. JoAnna Patton came
alive in the paint and scored
eight o f her 11 points in that
quarter. This offensive spurt
coincided with an intensi
fied defensive effort. The
Lady Cards held Horizon to
just four second half points
to take the convincing win
47-20.

Coach Mike Garrett.
On Saturday, the
Lady Cards hosted Helix,
a team in rebuilding mode,

10-2 after one and 22-6 at
the half. A 19-point fourth

team with eight steals while
Beth Morter added six. She
also had six assists as did
Ma kenna R am os before
leaving the game with an
ankle injury.
“ It w as a n o t h e r
great defensive game. This
time it was for the entire
gam e,” said Garrett. “We
wanted to make sure that
every time H elix’s shoot
ers had a shot, som eone
was in their face. Starting
out in league at 2-0 is very
important. A great start to
league play.”
