HHS students make donation to breast
cancer awareness foundation
Top Photo: Pictured are Heppner High School students hold
ing the check that is being sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Awareness Foundation. When brainstorming for ideas
of possible fundraisers the Heppner High School Future Busi
ness Leaders of America wanted to do something that they felt
would make a difference. Since it was October and breast
cancer awareness month, the FBLA members decided to sell
pink bracelets, and pens at school to raise awareness. This was
a great success, but the students wanted to do more, so with the
help of the girls' volleyball team October 27,fc was designated
as Pink Day. The students invited the Heppner Community to
wear pink when they came to the game. FBLA members then
handed out breast cancer awareness stickers to everyone who
came through the door. Between games, kids threw out pink
footballs to the audience and then asked for donations in the
crowd. By the end of the night with the sales from the bracelets
and pens, donations from the spectators, and the $100 dona
tion from the volleyball soup feed, the Heppner community
raised $567.54. Bottom Photo: Pictured are members of the

G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
