to sell raffle tickets
This year, the Hep­
pner C ham ber w ill sell
raffle tickets for two items
this year. The items are:
raffle item #1 - iPod Touch,
8GB (Includes earphones
and USB 2.0 cable) and
raffle item #2 - 40” West­
inghouse Flat Screen TV
(1080P LCD HDTV).
The items will be
displayed at the Heppner
Chamber and raffle tickets
can be purchased at Hepp­
ner Chamber, Heppner City
Hall and M urray Drugs.
The raffle tickets will be
one for $ 1 or six for $5 and
you can pick which item
you want to enter.
The drawing will
take place in conjunction
with the Celebrate Heppner
Christmas event on Thurs­
day evening, December 16,
at the Elks Lodge. There
will be one winner drawn
for each item. You don’t
need to be present to win.

Community Christmas
Tree lighting to be held
In Heppner on De­
cem ber 2, at 5:30 p.m .,
voices w ill be raised in
songs of the season and or­
naments will be raised onto
the Community Christmas
Tree on Main Street.
L ocal p re sc h o o l
and elementary school chil­
dren are invited to bring
their handmade ornaments
for the tree, which will also
be lighted that night. The
high school choir members
will entertain with some
songs and lead the gather­
ing in some seasonal selec-
tions.
Encouraged tojoin
the festivities are teachers
and other staff mem bers
who have helped the stu­
dents create the decora­
tions. And the sponsoring
C h am b er o f C om m erce
m em bers hope to see a
huge crow d o f p a re n ts,
grandparents, friends, high
school students, neighbors,
and familiar faces from the
surrounding communities
at this annual kick-off to
the holiday season in Hep­
pner.
“Christmas Is” tickets on sale
Tickets for “Christmas Is”, a community musical,
are now available. The Christmas community musical
program will be held Sunday, December 5, at 2 p.m. and
7 p.m., and on Monday, December 6, at 7 p.m. at the
United Methodist Church
Ticket prices are $5 for children and $10 for
adults and can be purchased by calling Jan Stroeber at
541-676-5824.
Refreshments will be served after the program
A portion of the proceeds will go support music
education in Heppner.

Morrow SWCD/Weed Advisory
board meeting to be held
A Morrow SWCD/Weed Advisory Board meeting
will be held Tuesday, December 7, beginning at 6 p.m. at
the Ag Service Center in Heppner. Agenda items include:
previous minutes, treasurer’s report, written staff report,
annual meeting update, and partnership reports.
Meetings o f the Morrow SWCD are open to the
public. The meeting location is accessible to persons with
disabilities. A request for an interpreter for the hearing
impaired or for other accommodations for persons with
disabilities should be made at least 48 hours before the

Larissa Gray, a student at Heppner High School, recently won
third place in the Pacific Region of the National Garden Clubs
Essay Contest. Gray has three sisters. She plays basketball and
softball and enjoys listening to country and modern music. Her

Kinzua Lunch group
holds monthly meeting
The Kinzua Lunch was held at Service Creek
on November 19. Those attending were Pat and Scott
Reed and M arissa Jacobson o f Spray; Lavonne and
Boby Slinkard o f John Day; Ada Schell of Twickenham;
Roberta and Steve Conlee and John and Midge Geer o f
Fossil; Betty Lewis of John Day; and Bob Nelson and son
Stewart, Tom Ledford and his dad from Prineville.
Next month the group will travel to Prineville on
December 17 for their luncheon at the Apple Peddler.
Parade of Lights
scheduled for Dec. 16
Heppner’s 14,h annual Parade o f Lights will be
held Thursday, December 16, at 5:30 p.m. The event is
sponsored by Columbia Basin Electric Co-op.
Prizes will be awarded for Best Community Float,
Best Commercial Float, Best Individual Float, and Best
School Float. Entry forms are available at the Heppner
Chamber o f Commerce.

EO publisher to speak at
Tea Party meeting
Publisher and Editor o f the East Oregonian news­
paper, Tom Brown, will be the guest speaker at the Willow
Creek Tea Party Patriots meeting Monday, December 6,
a Tea Party member has announced.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held
at 7 p.m. in the Columbia Basin Electric Board room in
Heppner.

Community Lunch Menu
Willow Creek Baptist Church members will be
serving lunch on Wednesday, December 8, at St. Patrick’s
Senior Center. The menu will meatloaf, mashed potatoes
with gravy, mixed vegetables, sliced peaches, hot rolls,
and cake. Menu is subject to change.
