and she would cooperate as
she saw fit, regardless of
what Mama, Daddy, and the
doctors thought.
She is loved by:

“Legends” are pumped and confident
for this year’s Traveling Trivia
To the Editor:
On Saturday, Bill’s Traveling Trivia will return
to Heppner for another evening of fun-filled competition
and laughs. And everyone who participates will be helping
financially a facility important to many Heppner children,
Heppner Day Care.
Not to frighten anyone away, I must let people
know that “Legends...” will be playing again this year,
pumped and confident! Surely, this is our year - after at
least seven or eight years of not even placing in the top
half of the rankings!
And if we don’t know many answers, we can still
hope to win some of the door prizes that will be handed
out during the evening. And if we don’t win some of those,
we can still harass the other teams. One thing we know for
sure is that we will have a good time, as will all the other
players. I can’t think of a more enjoyable way to spend
an evening while helping out Heppner Day Care.
Anyone can come to the Elks on Saturday eve
ning before the 7 p.m. starting time and get in on the fun.
Show up and hook up with one to five other people to
form a team! It is that easy.
1 hope to see at least 20 teams at the Elks, showing
support for Heppner Day Care and showing their good-
natured interest in all things trivial!

Wandering back roads and small
towns
To the Editor:
We like wandering the back roads of Oregon
(anywhere really) and enjoy small towns. Heppner has
the ingredients for keeping folks who like to RV or camp:
interesting town with an emphasis on its history, proxim
ity to the outdoor activities, a surprisingly good RV park,
good eats, friendly folks etc. I’m pretty adventuresome so
I like to mix and explore. I had a beer at Bucknum’s (and
learned all about the old safe and beautiful oak backbar),
had a good breakfast at the diner just down the street
(also a bakery); watched the local high school team play
football; my wife hit the quilt shop on Sunday, etc. and
obviously we walked the town. Before landing in a place
we usually look at the rvparkreview.com to see what folks
think of the camping. We also use Woodall but find the
rvparkreviews site to be better. On the website there was
nothing on Willow Lake so I added a review. I see where
someone else has since stayed and also rated it (and your
area) positively.
Your challenge is to get folks to take the time to
get to Heppner. That’s a toughie. I used to sit on the board
of the Southern Oregon Visitor Assn, and we preached that
any local entity be it county or city should budget 10% of
their ad or promotion dollars to communities/publications
etc. and be an active participant in any regional tourism
association. The State now hands out a lot more money
for tourism and you need to be visible or part of a group
that is visible.
Hope this helps. You have a nice place worth
visiting and it was fun to shoot, too.
