played the Dufur Rangers fense in the game with 119 of season held
dead even in the first half
o f their conference game on
Friday, October 2, but the
second half was all Dufur as
the Rangers romped 46-16.
The Cardinals record fell to
1 -4 on the season, 0-2 in the
Big Sky League.
H om ecom ing
brought out a big crowd
for the Friday night game.
After Dufur scored first, the
home crowd roared when
Zac Orem hit Micah Still
man with a 70 yard pass
play. Orem ran in the point
after and the score was 8-8
at the end o f the first quar
ter. Dufur struck again in
the second before the Cardi
nals drove the length o f the
field. Zac Orem punched in
from two yards out for the
score and then hit Tanner
Rietmann with a pass for
the point after. Both teams
had chances and the Cards
were moving towards an
other score late in the first
half before running out of
tim e. The score stood at
16-16 at the half.
Dufur scored in the
third quarter to go up 24-16
but it was the 20 Ranger
points in the fourth quarter
with no answer from lone
that gave D ufur the big
win.
The C a r d in a ls
com ing from the ground
game and 178 in the air.
Dufur did the majority of
their damage on the ground,
gaining 365 yards in rushing
and tallying just 43 passing
yards. Micah Stillman was
the leading rusher, carry
ing the ball nine times for
47 yards. Tanner Rietmann
packed it 12 times for 40
yards and Alex Rietmann
added 31 yards on seven
carries. Quarterback, Zac
Orem, completed 13 o f 26
passes with his favorite tar

(1-130.) A lex R ietm ann
caught tw o for 26 yards
and Adam Collin was 3-20.
Tanner Rietm ann led the
team with 13 tackles, seven
o f those solo.
“We played a good
game through the first half
but as it has been for us
the last couple games turn
overs killed us in the second
half. It seems like when a
couple things go wrong, it
makes the wheels fall off,”
said Coach Dennis Stefani.
“Keeping turnovers down
will be the main thing for us
to work on this week.”
The Cardinals will
play Condon/W heeler on
Thursday in lone. Game
time is 7 p.m.
