    2010 Harvest photos wanted
2010 marks the third
year the Morrow County Wheat
G rowers have sponsored the
Wheat League Cake Contest as
a feature o f the Morrow County
Fair.
“Another harvest season
is underway and with it an oppor­
tunity to take pietures of our w ay
o f life and share it w ith folks w ho
don't live on a farm," said Shan­
non Rust. This year the Morrow
County Wheat League will spon­
sor a photo contest as well
People are invited to
bring their mounted 4x6 or 5x7
photos to the Fair Office before
the arts and crafts deadline to
make sure their contribution is
displayed.

awarded $30, second place, $20,
and third place $10. For more

Willow Creek Tea Party Patriots to
participate in fair
The local Willow Creek Tea Party
Patriots plan on having a booth at the M or­
row County Fair this year, the group recently
announced. It will be located in the main pa­
vilion.
Volunteers plan on manning the booth
from 4 to 8 p.m. each day and will be provid­
ing literature, drawings, hand-outs, balloons
and commentary. Voter registration forms will
also be available as well
as updates on issues and
candidates im portant to
the country.
The group, which
is non partisan and b e­
lieves in limited govern­
ment, fiscal responsibility,
free enterprise, and free­
dom o f opportunity, will
also be staffing the 4-H
Snack Shack from 7 to 10
a m. Friday Aug. 6.
In addition they
plan to have an entry in
the parade on Saturday.
The Tea Party will also have an entry in the
Umatilla County Parade at 7 p.m. on Sat. Aug.
7. Some of the recent activities o f the local Tea
Party group include the following: conducting
a ‘get out to vote” campaign in the last election,
gathering signatures on state petitions, meeting
with high school civics classes, attending a fo­
rum in LaGrande covering the US Constitution,
presenting a US flag to Heppner High School,
helping circulate petitions supporting a no vote
on tax increase measures 66 and 67 and sup­
porting Arizona on its new illegal immigration
law.
The group says it lias a diverse member­
ship consisting in part of “small business ow n­
ers, livestock ranchers, coastruction company
owner, former trucking dispatcher, retired fire
fighters, air traffic control superv isor, w heat and
hay farmers retirees, secretaries, veterinarian,
minister, farm laborer, newspaper distributor,
iasurance agent, pump and irrigation company
ow ner. moms, dads and grandparents,” and uiges
anyone who would like to become involved to

Superintendents needed
Sunday, August 8

The Morrow County Fair is looking for superintendents in Com­
munity Booths, Clothing and help in the Juniors/Super Kids departments.
Superintendents would be needed for Monday, Augast 2, and Tuesday. August
3, o f fair week.
On Monday, the departments take entries from 1 -8 p.m and judging
w ill be on Tuesday. Superintendents would be given a free pass to the fair for
the week, and a goody bag for volunteering.
