Locals contestants participate in CJRA Rodeo
Local contestants

and Brian Lindsay, Jaiden
and Blane Mahoney, Gra­
d e Orem, and Devin and
Garrett Robinson com­
peted with over 100 other
contestants at the Heppner
CJRA Rodeo held on June
6. Contestants had the op­
portunity to compete at
two nearby CJRA rodeos
over the same weekend
with Arlington on Sat­
urday and H eppner on
Sunday.
The H ep p n er
community received many
positive comments from
CJRA members for their
support of the rodeo youth
ages 8-18. Sponsors pro­
viding All Around Buckles
for each age group were
Rusty and Cyde Estes,
Lyle and Virginia Peck,
Tim and Shannon Rust,
Steve and Lisanne Cur­
rin, Morrow County Grain
G row ers, C om m unity
Bank, and Bank of East­
ern Oregon. Other local
community members do­
nating their expertise were
timers, Sherree Mahoney
and Bev Steagall, Judge
Steve Currin, and stock
handlers John and Celia
Moyer, Jason Zinter and
Sibbea Browning.

of the proposed project, and
county award from Oregon
Cultural Trust. Grants are
awarded for no more than
50% o f the total project

Local youth compete in Union Livestock Show
On June 9-12, lo­
cal youth competed in the
Union Livestock Show.
The Heppner FFA Chapter
took two teams in livestock
judging and both teams,
advanced and greenhand,
won their events.
The ad v an c ed
team members were Brett
Harrison, Jessica Hughes,
Brynna Rust, Zech Hintz,
and Devin Robinson. The
greenhand team members
were Makenzie Hughes,
M aggie Collins, Garrett
Robinson, Garrett Gibbs,
Tim Nelson, and Justin
Pranger. Also participating
were Justin and Zach Yo-
com and Kelly Nelson.
During the show
Jessica Hughes won Grand
Champion M arket Steer
for 4-H , C ham pion Sr.
Beef Showman, and Re­
serve Overall Beef Show­
man. Brett Harrison won
Reserve Champion FFA
Market Steer, Champion
Homegrown Market Steer,
and Hi-point in Advanced
Livestock Judging for FFA.
Makenzie Hughes won Hi-
Point Intermediate Live­
stock Judging, and Hi-Point
Greenhand FFA Livestock
Judging.

a county update.
The lunch meeting
will start at noon at Hepp­
ner City Hall. The cost for
lunch is $9. Next week’s
